Did anyone mention that Danarius makes some implication that Fenris was also a love slave? Talking about how the boy is talented and whatnots... o.O

Talented as in able to shove his fist through people, you mean? Image IPB

That's a kink, I hear.

If the idea was to make Hawke jealous the fist thing doesn't make sense, IMO.

I don't get the big deal about the possible sexual implications. There's been enough direct references to rape/sexual abuse in Dragon Age that I'd be skeptical if it didn't happen. Especially given Fenris' reaction to Orsana's behavior ("you just didn't know any better").

That's quite possibly true about Fenris -- his memory only extends back a few years, and it may just be me, but I did see sexual overtones with his relationship with his former master, which would be a very good reason for him not to flirt with anyone, regardless of his feelings as Leto might have been. Given that revenge and hate are foremost in his mind, the thought of anything else may not come to his mind on his own, or if it does, he dismisses it just as quickly.

Yes...... Gosh thank you! I'm not the only one who get all... when Danarius call Fenris "my little pet". (or something like that).

I know there's something going on between the two, I just know it!

That's probably why I found Danarius' scene with Fenris particularly distasteful on a whole. It was the way Danarius called him his "little wolf" and insinuated that Hawke was only jealous. IIRC, Fenris has a banter with Sebastian where Seb says, "I know he made you do things." Of course, I might just be interpreting it completely wrong.

And I'm not even going to touch that "sexual abuse made me gay" excuse. It's as derisory as Anders turning gay because of demon possession. Just no. It's bad enough that some places in our world want to exorcise us of our homosexuality.

It could explain some of his intimacy issues though?

I don't think he was abused sexually, more like abused generally. I think he'd had stronger reactions to Isabela's jokes if he had been.

I think Danarius calling him his "little wolf" was just a general possessiveness. Danarius invested a lot in Fenris, both in money (for the lyrium) and effort (the ritual), and I wouldn't find it odd for a slave owner to become attached to a slave without using them for sex. Maybe he saw Fenris like a dog? His property, something that always used to obey him and was just his, and did his bidding. That's more or less how I see their relationship. With a lot of physical and emotional abuse, of course.

Perhaps its just Varric's story telling that makes them "bi"

It matters why?

There may be a story/lore behind why "they are all bi". There may not. Maybe it was just a gameplay/design choice....

or not.

I fail to see why it needs to be explained further other than "it just is."

They don't need reasons! People just are!

What does seem odd is the subjective sexuality, but it is better then "all bi".

Isabella: Bisexual
Fenris: very mild flirting with both, could be glossed over easily - player could see him as straight / gay / bi depending on Hawke
Merril: you have to flirt with her - again, could be straight / gay / bi depending on Hawke
Anders: straight if female, bisexual (or possibly homosexual) if male. (deliberate dialogue and backstory changes for each)

Its odd, but this way people get choices, which is a good thing.

Ok, I know most of us read in the news that DA II will feature romance options for all genders and orientations, but some of them are clearly lacking the reason why are bisexual, let's take a look:
Isabela: Bisexual for obvious reasons
Anders: ??? Don't get it here, I mean when Awakening came he was introduced mostly as a straight character, read somewhere on some news that all he wanted was to be free and a girl, not sure why they made him Bi, maybe since he fused with Justice and that somewhat changed him or something, can't think other reasons...
Fenris: ??? Still don't get it why he's Bi? I mean he got brainwashed by the ritual to infuse him with lyrium, and he sayed once he refused to get close to anybody, not sure why he turned Bi
Merrill: ??? This one I really can't imagine beeing Bi, I mean the Dalish have a tradition for maintaining elven blood or something, and can't see her as Bi...
Sebastian: Straight for obvious reasons, i guess he could have been only gay since he lived in the chantry for so many years and all among men...

As you can see, there's not much background for almost all, (all if u don't got exiled prince dlc) for bisexual romances, i thought that one will be straight, one will be gay and one or two bi, not all bi, seems a bit of fanservice don't u think?

Sorry, but you seriously need to educate yourself on sexuality. The only "reason" they are bi is that they can potentially be sexually satisfied with either gender. There's your explanation.

I'm gay, and I'm gay because I only like girls. Nothing "made" me gay. I think it's freaking amazing that Bioware has the guts to make all the romanceable characters bisexual. It makes the game so much better.

I doubt it's just simply at the same time being prone gay or bi. I think what also comes into play is who you are. Your character is their friend, ally, protector and so much more. It doesn't develop over night. It isn't like Morrigan who would sleep with a male Warden at the first time you go to camp by answering the right responses to all the questions.

The relationships are met just after your first year in Kirkwall. You have been with them for years by the time that feelings start to develop. Each of the possible relationships would see you as their guardian and protector along with many other things. Admiration begins and eventually some may get a crush that they wouldn't let go.

Merrill in her conversation with you starts questioning even herself for being crazy. Thinks to how she should be with an Elf and not a human especially. With the logic there she would stop questioning that it's a female, she's already breaking the rules cause of what her heart is telling her. Could argue that for any of them. Don't over read into it as anything other than that.

btw, Fenris talking to Hawke says how he never had sex ever. He never mentioned to eluded to that kind of abuse. He was a body guard and servent. When he was called his "Little Wolf" it was a jab at the name Danarius gave him. Fenris. Nothing more.

Going by what you're suggesting...what would be the lore that gives reasons for why "some people are straight"?

They wanted us to have more options period. So weren't stuck with the overly sexual bi option again.

However I heard gay-mancing Anders is better because he tells more about himself and is over all seems more in depth still haven't tried it yet, maybe in another play through

Gaymancing Anders doesn't give you a lot of the "I'm going to hurt you, you should stay away" lines, I've heard. I imagine "better " would be subjective.

I think rival-mance is .. much better :D he says something like "I'm not sure if I want to kiss you or kill you". that got me a big time.

I think it's just that they're all attracted to Hawke. Hawke is like a companion sexuality magnet/switch. Because Hawke is a sexy sexy champion.

(Bottom line: I don't care if they're bi, I don't care if it's different universes, I just like choosing the "flirt" option as many times as I can.)

Merrill and Fenris don't have to worry about having half-elf babies if Hawke is the same sex? That does relieve some pressure off the relationship. Remember that is a big deal to almost all the elves. Anders thinks everyone should love him. Always has. Isabela is adventurous?

Zev wasn't the only bisexual elf in DAO. There were numerous elf NPCs that were bisexual (you could flirt with some of them).

Hmmm, yes. They aren't 'bisexual' Just 'Hawkesexual'

LOL, what a silly notion. I think theya re just written that way, so each player could romance whoever they wanted. Only Isabella was known for being bisexual prior to DA2. Not sure about Anders.

Like...?  If there was a hot elf in DAO, believe me I flirted with him.

I don't recall any bisexual elves other than Zevran (edit: and Iona). The whole city elf origin revolved around a traditional wedding.  Tamlen was only a romance for a female Dalish PC.

How about all the elvish prostitutes at The Pearl? My male Warden (and female Warden) can assert that there were indeed more bisexual elves than Zevran out there... B)

lol! Yeah, I'm not really sure that the prostitutes should really factor into an assessment of the bisexual elf population.
