Nay, it always clipped through my shield and looked horrible.

The animations actually kind of annoyed me. I didn't like having a flaming sword behind my various characters and party members when we were in dialog. It just looked goofy and messed with the lighting.

Well, it would ideally only be an active effect in combat, like elemental weapons. But the default animations for elemental weapons are atrocious.

I haven't played DAO in so long I forget:

When you added elemental runes to a weapon, did it actually get a pretty particle effect? Like actual flames on your weapon in combat?

If that's right, we desperately need stuff like that.

The elemental weapons buff effect looks like crap.

It did add a visual effect yes but I can see why people might find it off putting... especially out of combat. Though it might have been nice if they had rune particle effects activate during combat only much like the toggled buffs.

Yeah.

I hate the elemental weapon effect in combat. Its terrible. It is just weird squiggly lines on my weapons.

A real crackling electricity, flame, etc. like NWN had (and I guess DAO had also - I just forgot) would be great.

Aye, provisionally. Something more subtle than DA:O, and only in combat.

Instead of the bonfire on a stick that a flame rune caused in DA:O, just a subtle rippling sheet of fire that bursts into a gout of flame only when hitting a target.

Aye, but only if it's combat and/or I get to turn the feature on and off like the helm one.

I really liked the powerful animations we had for magic weapons in DAO. There was great variety, and you could add any of them to your custom items via the mods. Such a mod for DA2 would be most welcome!

The "elemental" textures we currently have in DA2 are indeed atrocious and disgusting. I actually want them removed, because they suck so completely and destroy the decent look of the weapon models.

I like the VFX of elemental weapons in DA2 better than DAO in the sense that it adds a glow to the weapon rather than flames or such, but I'd prefer if the glow were a lot less intense, and not on the hilt.

Add me to the "I hated the old effects" crowd. Not saying you guys shouldn't get the option, or whatever, I just was glad to see them gone, lol.

I actually didn't put runes in some stuff because I hated the effect.

DA:O particle effects were good. I was using the cold animation a lot. I hope a talented modder can bring some of them back to DA2.

A little off topic: I hope Bioware is taking notes and will implement all these 'improvements' in a forthcoming patch or expansion.

Bumpage ...

It would /really/ awesome if the flames had trails, but that's probably wishful thinking!
