i have dao vanilla already saved on my pc and thought i'd buy the ultimate edition and play through the expansions. got my dragon age disk and redeemed the code for the downloadables and had no problems.

i tried to install awakenings by just putting the awakenings disk in my drive but it just read as a normal dao game, i inserted disk 1 of the ultimate and same thing happened.

anyways i uninstalled my dao vanilla and went to instal a fresh copy using the new ultimate edition discs.

the game menu pops up, the one with config and install ect, i press install and get the windows pop up "you sure you want to install this", click yes and nothing happens. i've tried running as admin and still nothing happens.

i tried on my laptop and worked straight away, altho my laptop is underspec and cant run this game smooth.

my pc config is windows 7 ultimate 32
Nvidea 9800gt with the beta drivers released just b4 da2

ps, im not gonna format my pc over this. atm i just reinstalled vanilla and have access to everything apart from awakenings.

If you go to Control Panel/Programs and Features... do you see Dragon Age listed at all?

If so, uninstall it from there, then make sure the folders are deleted from Program Files and My Documents/Bioware. Reboot. Use a tool like CCCleanup to remove any registry entries for Dragon Age if they still exist. Reboot again. Then try installing with Disc One of Ultimate Edition and install everything. Reboot again before launching the game.

If not, post back and we'll troubleshoot some more.

The one you want is the first one, the "installer".

ok i uninstalled the game and ran cccleaner and it still wont do anything after i click yes to the allow windows to proceed

lol, i right clicked on the setup icon in on the disc and clicked properties and compatibillity.

i ticked "run in 256 colors, run in 640x480, disable visual themes disable desktop composition disable display scaling on high dpi. and it worked lol. once it installs i'll undo the changes so it runs normally.


*edit* when it asked to insert disk 2, the computer wouldnt read any disks after that. i restarted my pc and unticked all the compatibility stuff i mentioned up there and ran it and it worked perfectly, so now i have it installed.

i installed and played thru da2, tried to install dao1 ultimate edition and cant get it to install the first disc. stops on extracting core.rar 15.6% sits there for 30 min and then fails. can anyone help

i am having the same problem as pirate, in the exact same spot. it seems to be the anims.erf file. please help
