1. Eamon is just being a gentleman and trying to keep the ladies safe, they might just crack a nail in the heat of combat!

Gentleman? Pah!
Plus Eamon's men get their comedy beards caught on their shields! I've seen it happen. It's terrible.

2. See? Shineys! Woman's weakness! :D

Yes but I play it safe and experiment on other.. I mean, shut up!

1. WHAAAT THE BEARDS ARE AWESOME! Never make fun of man's beards!

I remember playing a game called "Zone of the Enders 2". I think the main character was growing a beard or something, until he fell in to coma or something for few months. When he wakes up, some woman prances in and says to him: "OH! By the way, I shaved your beard while you were in coma."! What a INSULT!
<_<

2. AHA! I knew shineys were the weakness... B)

I thought that the statue was Meredith doing propaganda, honestly. "AND THE TEMPLARS SAVED THE CITY. WE HAVE THIS WONDERFUL STATUE OF A TEMPLAR WITH A HOLY SWORD CRUSHING THE QUNARI. HOORAY."

Yeah kinda a let down when Oblivion already did a player statue, after the battle of Bruma that was 100% accurate right down to what the player looked like and was wearing at the time. All they did was just clone the player character, give it a stone texture, scale it up 25% and pose it.

Best part was you could use the console on PC to animate your own statue and it would walk around town talking to people. Now that's a statue worthy of a Champion!

I thought it was a cool idea, but it would have been cooler if the statue was based on your Hawke--or at least had male, female, rogue, warrior and mage versions.

Oblivion was able to pull this off. Why couldn't DA2?

Would you rather have an doll with "Arishok head chopping action"?

I wouldn't mind a plush toy of me that squeaks out battle cries when you squeeze the hand, either.

Would rather see a statue of Hawke holding Arishok's head up high. That would have been cooler statue.

The Elder Scrolls engine operates differently. The way Oblivion did it was by cloning the player actor and giving it a stone texture. This was evident through the console, or even the occasional game blips when the statue unfroze and turned to look at you as if it were an NPC.

NPCs in DA, on the other hand, are defined by their .utc files. They would have to make an entire different entry in the save--basically akin to a party member. Doable, but probably messier than in Oblivion. .ess saves are more efficient in how they store data (but also prone to errors such as doubling and save corruption).

Think of it as a representation of Kirkwall overcoming the Qunari takeover.

ARISE THREAD ARISE! Image IPB
Bit of the thread necromancy there.Image IPB

I noticed a couple of the things on my last playthrough.

1.  The dead city guard bodies during the battles with the Qunari include guards wearing the same helmet as the statue, why they only appear on corpses and not live guardsmen I don't know.........maybe they are members of the crack 'Viscount's own Kirkwall Suicide Brigade'.

2. There is a Templar in act three in the Gallows next to Cullen weaing non-templar heavy plate (with red bits)....Templar Hugh I think. So maybe its of a Templar after all and their just being sneaky about it. Image IPB

I forgot to check it out on my second playthrough, is the Arishoks head still beneath the statues foot if you spared him?

I've never given him Isabella so its always massed battle to the death for me........dueling the Arishok just takes way to long one on one.

Ugh...no.  I didn't notice.  Now I have.  It would have been a nice detail if it had actually been my Hawke.  But now I'm ticked.  :pinched:

I was disappointed that i couldn't 'interact' with the statue for a cutscene between the companions or just Hawke saying something about it in a speech bubble, cuz i did wonder about it.

Y'know, if it's actually supposed to be Hawke, that really ought to happen.

Varric: I think they captured him, though. Captured his essence.
Merrill: He looks sort of angry, doesn't he?
Varric: Kind of what I meant.

That was one of my favorite episodes!  Especially Simon's comment: "This is what going mad must feel like."

I did, and the first time with my warrior i thought "well thats cool, kinda reminds me of Trademeet". Second time i played a female Rogue, statue is the same, the game didn´t even acknowledge that my character was a female, and that on the other side pissed me off ;)

In the docks? Bit strange to put in a place of low affluence, I was hoping it'll be in Hightown.

I assumed it was a statue of a city guard (representing Kirkwall itself) the first time I saw it (playing as a female rogue).

I think the alternative helmet is the guards officer helmet due to the bodies, one per dead squad of Guard and the lack of helmets for guard officers elsewhere in game when they are not in combat. Maybe wearing the officer helmets is bad luck, since the officer fighting the 'Marauders' went without a helmet in that battle.......and survived, also Aveline obviously wont wear it either, neither will Donnic. The Officer helmet is cursed! Image IPB

Has anyone mentioned the statues from Fable 2? You could get a couple of your hero done.

Anyway, this statue is clearly not Hawk. I think it's pretty pathetic that people are getting so worked up over something so minor.

I know talk about ego's.

Orsina and Meridith help you kill Qunari as do the city guard (who lose thier lives) not to mention your team mates and everyone wants a statue of just Hawke as a symbol, as if they were the only one's to lift a finger against the Qunari uprising

Seriously its all me, me, me with some people in here, the arrogance is sad to see but so very typical.

I just ****slapped the best warrior the qunari have to offer in single combat. A little bit of self-adulation should be granted.

My Hawke defeated Arishok in single combat, without cheats.  The toughest one on one battle in a Bioware game that I can recall.  Tougher than Ser Cauthrien, even.  It was because I defeated him in single combat that the Qunari left.  I think I deserved a statue, a medal, a title, 6 goats and 3 sheaves of wheat.

I bet it doesn't even change if you let the Qunari live.

Sadly, that's correct.

Will be bit of embarrassing political incident to explain if/when Arishok swings by the city again.
