Why would Hawke be standing on his gravy boat?

Has anyone mentioned the statues from Fable 2? You could get a couple of your hero done.

Anyway, this statue is clearly not Hawk. I think it's pretty pathetic that people are getting so worked up over something so minor.

I know talk about ego's.

Orsina and Meridith help you kill Qunari as do the city guard (who lose thier lives) not to mention your team mates and everyone wants a statue of just Hawke as a symbol, as if they were the only one's to lift a finger against the Qunari uprising

Seriously its all me, me, me with some people in here, the arrogance is sad to see but so very typical.

My Hawke defeated Arishok in single combat, without cheats.  The toughest one on one battle in a Bioware game that I can recall.  Tougher than Ser Cauthrien, even.  It was only because I defeated him in single combat that the Qunari left.  I think I deserved a statue, a medal, a title, 6 goats and 3 sheaves of wheat.

You beat ONE dude out of an entire army with big shoulder pads who runs half the speed you do and you want a 40ft statue for that one fight!!

Wow I know rappers with smaller ego's than that!!!

From you, I will take that as a compliment.  ^_^

Also, you can beat Arishok without running around kiting like a coward. Here's one example.

www.youtube.com/watch

It has to do with setting up your skills, and avoid his blows, not running around waiting for your cooldown.  I did it with a Templar spec basically shutting down his ability to use special abilities.

Yes, I deserve a statue.  Yo yo.  Peace out, bro.

It's supposed to represent Hawke I guess.. It fit rather well with my Warrior Hawke. But my Mage was was confused.

I don't get why they couldn't just make a statue of the armor and weapon your Hawke had at the battle against the Qunari. Bethesda did it in Oblivion 5 years ago, I don't see why Bioware were being lazy here.

It really looks like a templar to me. Considering the fact that templars took over the control of the Kirkwall officially, putting a templar statue on the docks and decorating the former qunari compound with chantry/templar banners as a sign of victory makes sense...

Its so sad to see you say that:crying:

I dont blame you tho, its the culture we live in today. Next they will want the statue in gold and not bronze.

May Andraste guide you:innocent:

Long before DA2 came out, I told a friend that all I wanted from the sequel was a faithfully modelled statue of my Warden from DA:O somehwere in the game world. Never mind that this wouldn't have made sense in the land of Kirkwall, I just thought it would be a nice reward to the player for following the franchise.

Then, when I noticed the statue of what I thought was Hawke during Act 2, I felt slightly vindicated. Until earlier tonight, that is, when I noticed this thread.

One model, regardless of gender/class, you say? Crap.

yeah i noticed it, thought it was awesome. but then again i was playing male and i didn't mind the statue didn't get my characters exact likeness.

Though i can imagine if you played a female and it was male you could get ticked.

Dunno, I was a S&S heHawke warrior wearing the Fallen Set, the statue was an exact copy, however it had the helmet on.

If I remove my helm, does it show the default Hawke appearance?

No, because it's not Hawke in any way, shape or form.

I'm a bit surprised that people aren't getting this.

Can't imagine why anyone would think a statue freshly erected in the city is to honour the Champion and his/her deed. After all it's merely 50 years or so since last person was granted such a title in the Free Marshes.

If I remember correctly, the statue looked like a Templar. Add to that the flaming sword, which is a Templar symbol. I'd say Meredith commissioned it to show that it was the Templars who defeated the Qunari.

Didn't look closely, saw it at night and the glowing sword. Reminded me of her sword.

It doesn't look like a templar. The statue is wearing guard armor. The flaming sword is just Andraste's symbol.

Yea, not when she has those cute blond hair locks. Or whatever they are called.

I'll have to check back, I don't remember the details. The flaming sword is the official Templar symbol though, which derivates from Andraste probably. But still.

I just looked in game and it seems to be generic massive armour model. Templars wear skirts.

My fem-Hawke was insulted by that statue. For one? It's a guy. (I think) Secondly? She's never worn heavy plate armor like that. She runs around in mage skirts, whilst she flirts with sexy... Merrill.

The guards got their asses handed them though.

Maybe it was just an attempted conciliatory symbol, without displaying Templar power too much. Which wouldn't have been that consistent with Meredith's policy of increasing her power and blocking any attempt to put a Viscount.

I'd say the simplest explanation works the best -- it's statue of the Champion, and it's single model for the same reason there's single cave and single mansion layout in the whole game...

In part because of what you say -- Meredith really doesn't strike me as type who would be subtle or concerned with display of power being possibly too much. Especially if she was trying to show who is in charge.

In other words, Bioware laziness.

I can't believe that even Fable made more effort than this.

Hero! Your will energy/power is low! Watch that.

I think it could be taken that the statue is to be less of a monument to Hawke and more of a symbol for the people of Kirkwall.
