I think it could be taken that the statue is to be less of a monument to Hawke and more of a symbol for the people of Kirkwall.

Maybe it was outsourced and the drawing of the champion got lost on the way, so they kinda rolled with that.

I'll have to check back, I don't remember the details. The flaming sword is the official Templar symbol though, which derivates from Andraste probably. But still.

Well Leliana's concept art has a flaming sword thingie on her too. Mary Kirby said it was the sword of mercy.

My female mage was puzzled by this statue.

So I assumed it represented Kirkwall defying the Qunari, rather than Hawke.

I'm a bit surprised that people aren't getting this.

It's the sword of mercy, used to end Andraste's life whilst she burned on a pyre. I generally assumed they used the symbol to demonstrate the Templars' role to the chantry of granting maleficar the mercy of death, or somesuch.

Also it's the same stupid statue regardless of what you do.

I was a MAGE with the default Hawke (I like my first playthroughs to be based off the trailers, second to be an informed playthrough with a custom character) and the statue was of a knight with a flaming Sword.

So your telling me there is no way to create a statue of my ACTUAL character? Aren't there MMOs that do just that for 1000s of players per server?

Oblivion did it. You got your statue in Bruma. Long ago, they knew how to customize ****.

I actually thought the statue was of a Templar with his foot on the Arishok's head. I totally thought "Wow, look who's taking credit for beating the Arishok."
