I still think the most disappointing aspect of this game is the romance options. Straight guys have to choose between promiscuous wench or childish girl. Aveline was the only real woman on the team. Gay guys had to choose between Anders (/shudder) and Fenris (/shudder again). They ruined Anders, and Fenris is a little too anti-mage for my taste.

Bottom line: Aveline should have been made romance option, since she has the best qualities out of all the characters. She's reliable, she's strong, and she knows the ropes (married before).

Would have been nice if they added in for a romance a Templar character. That would seem more a influence to choose a side due to romantic feelings.

Goats are good for sacrifices. She should be an option for a blood mage.

You know, what I've just realized? Your LI never gives you any presents. Are they all so poor or so greedy? I mean, you have a wealthy dwarven businessman and a well-paid guard captain, but you can't romance them. You're stuck with the poor ones.
Merril is so poor she has no shoes, Fenris can't afford a candle, Anders made his robe of dead crows and Isabella... A hooker unpaid is a hooker very poor, as written in a fortune cookie.

Alas, if Avaline was available to romance I might bother to play through again. So I have to wonder why the dev team went out of their way to make four companions romancible to either sex then shut two off from being an option at all.

Why the heck would you want to romance Brunhilda anyway? If she was fat she'd be singing!

There's a couple of mods that make her better looking btw. Yes I used one that wasn't a complete makeover because the complete makeover one had issues.

Worst. Romance. Ever.

I've got a thing for redheads too and I'd run screaming from that giant crate of crazy. Nevermind the self-righteous spews, look at how she flies off the handle when you try to give her a shield. Her husband had a shield four years ago, so clearly that must mean you're pissing on his grave. Seriously? Can you imagine how bad she must be to live with? Poor Donnic. I can't even imagine what that poor man has to go through. He's forever in the skyscraper sized shadow of a corpse. Romance that lunatic? I think I'd rather stick it in a cigarette lighter. Jesus.

Yes, you can flirt with her; lose your heart to her, and all you get is Just Friends. While it is painful, and may not fulfill your desires, this relationship can be far and away better than some sexual fling with another companion. Excellent writing, IMO.

It's insane that you can't. If you're playing a heterosexual male who isn't evil or crazy, you're left with the options of the ****ty drunk pirate thief or the crazy blood mage - and if you played the first Dragon Age, you know it NEVER ends up well with Blood Mages. I have no idea what they were thinking here - why is Merril even an option? I have no idea why Aveline wasn't - she seems like she would be the most likely option if you're playing a more "heroic" character. Certainly if you're playing a lawful one.

The fact that how you behave alters how other characters react to you is the biggest edge the BioWare games has over the Elder Scrolls series, in my opinion, but if they're going to write them this badly, what's the point? I do know that the options you're presented with in character generation and Romances makes this game less replayable than the first Dragon Age, and I don't think that's a good thing.

while i am bummed that i can't get with her. it makes sense in a way. I mean, come on, i am sure alot of you had girls in your real life that you liked, but it just never worked out. **** i know i have. and i think that's what BioWare was going for, something that you want that you just can't have. yeah it sucks, but life sucks. BioWare has been trying to make a more real RPG and i think this is a good step up.

or maybe i'm just saying that to help me not cry over her, but what ever.

Can you really trust anyone who says "You can trusts me?"

*Spoiler*

Anyway you can't romance Aveline...not really anyway.  You can go through the motions, but by the time she figures it out she's already hooked up with Donnick, and had been interested in him for quiet some time.  I still go through the motions because I think it adds to the story that Hawke had a thing for someone who just didn't feel the same way.  Makes the character less "perfect".

It's the fact that the steryotype male who supposedly plays these games wants the same exact archetypes to romance over and over....EVERYONE wants freakin Elves...always and forever...for some unknown reason because apparently their the Pinnicale of Sexy. Also everyone wants The Easy Rogue, because their all so "emotionally damaged and need me to help them work through it!"  I guess people just like being Doctor Phil...I personally don't and am tierd of being such. But to each their own. Everyone also wants a Mage who's anti establisment so they can fist-bump and go "YEA ANTI ESTABLISMENT! I TOTALY SYMPATHISE WITH YOUR VIEWPOINT!"...Stuff like that, Apparently no other options will be accetable since those are the ones they keep doing. i have given up on getting a romance I'll actually enjoy, Ashely Williams was a step in the right direction...but it looks like Bioware might have screwed her over too so...if thats the case then to hell with Bioware romance.

if anyone remembers me from the Aveline thread from before the game launch...I would constently joke about this picture and say how awsome it would be...
