Hey guys I need help or rather some advice

I'm playing mass effect 1 right now, and I was wondering will it work if I lets say start a new game and I choose to use a import lvl 52 soldier character and play the game, and I'm about half done, which afterwards I will then save and exit to the main menu and in there I start a new game again but rather than creating a new character from scratch I will use the same character and save. Now the question is will it overwrite my previous game?

For those that don't understand I'll show you using a flowchart of some kind of what I mean.

1)Start new game > Use imported lvl 52 soldier > finish half of game (Go after Liara) > save and exit.

2)Start new game > Use imported lvl 52 soldier > finish half of game (go after ashley) >save and exit.

What I am hoping to do is that I want to get both women and get the lvl 60 mark that I am targeting using one character but my problem is that I do not know whether or not it overwrites itself.

So for those that know please help me? thanks.

For the import into ME2, each time you defeat Sovereign and get through to the scene with Udina and Anderson, there was a hidden save file made that is used to import into ME2.

So you will have as many as save files as times you complete that part of the game. I once booted up a save with a Shepard and got two files for import into ME2 with the same info pretty much, the only problem you could run into is telling the difference importing into ME2.

So if you are going to continue with a Shepard from start to finish. You will have the first one available and listed at level 52 and the second one as level whatever level you complete for ME2.

But with what you want to do, I'm not 100% sure if a different profile is made if you import a third time from the original one that completed at level 52, but I want to say yes.

One way to check is to go to the load menu and try cycling between the available Profiles, you should see two profiles with the same name.

What Praetor writes is pretty much the case as far as I am aware. And it can be difficult to tell your Shepards apart (it's why I've personally decided to create a bunch of new characters with different names who will make different choices).

If you are manually saving and catalogue which save number is what I think you can do what you seem to be wanting to do (do not rely on the autosave alone because that'll just bork what you want to do); however, you can't leave the game unfinished (which is what you seem to imply with your 'save and exit'): you have to finish the game to 'create' the import file Praetor mentions.

During the fight with Saren a final autosave is created.
after Shepard staggers from the rubble (before the epilogue scene) there is an end game save with time and date matching that last autosave.
So if you remember the sequence of saves, the date you reached the autosave, and Shepard's final level you should have a good idea

Like OBakaSama I played it safe with different names so I could easily tell my idealistic soldier, maverick cop, highly-strung xenophobe, rogueish womaniser and nihilistic headcase Shepards apart
