Has anyone found a way to fix the bug where your relationship with Merrill does not change no matter what you say or do to her?

There is a bug I have encountered where once you get Merrill in you party, you can say and do things that are supposed to increase her rivalry or friendship, but nothing happens. She remains neutral. I have searched online and found posts on some other formus. However, I just found a post on the dragon age wiki where it appears to be a problem with flirting with her when she first moves in to her house. I restarted at the beginning of act 1 and did the options where I did and did not flirt with her and this appears to be true. So, do not flirt with Merril when you are first able to talke with her in her home.
