New protagonist for DA 3 would be nice. I wouldn't mind playing as my warden again, but appearances in DA 3 would be needed for both Hawke and the Warden. Mostly to clarify questions and because they are Thedas's 2 biggest heroes in the Dragon Age as of right now

Bioware also better not dub my Warden with a voice or someone's gunna die ;)

Hope not, want a new character. Would love to play as a seeker.

Wouldn't playing a seeker narrow down class choice? Couldn't see blood mages in the seekers. Or mages in general. Playing a seeker would no doubt mean playing a human rogue or warrior. Not much of a choice.

Considering that the legends surrounding the Seekers of Truth talk about how they're immune to mind control and have powers of mental domination... I wouldn't be at all surpised to learn that they also had mages in their ranks. Though one would assume that any mage recruits would be screened incredibly thoroughly.

As for blood mages, well... who knows. ;)

I would love to see my Hawke return. I loved my warden, but her story feels more complete. I want my Hawke to truly change the world. I don't feel ready to add her to the list of "heros who mysteriously disappear" just yet

I suspect Hawke's story is going to be further chronicled in DLC. Much like Witch Hunt was a conclusion to the Origins chapter (though still with some dangling threads), DA2 and Hawke will be resolved in DLC before DA3, I'd imagine.

I'm hoping DA3 is a new protagonist and we get to see Orlais or Antiva...leaning more towards Orlais. I'd like the Gray Wardens to be involved again, perhaps developing some new angles towards the Order and their role in Thedas and I'd be content if our Hawke appeared in the story.

But I've also been saying I want to see my Warden and Hawke appear drinking together in a tavern too with Hawke griping about the Warden's lack of story telling and the Warden responding with a silent shrug and a smile. ;)

I had an interesting thought about this earlier..

As both Hawke and The Warden have "dissapeared" and the world is going to need heroes to somehow resolve the mage situation, why not feature BOTH of them in DA3? Perhaps choose one of them as your playable character while the other becomes a party member, perhaps have them as the leaders of some sort of organization thats taking part in resolving the situation.

I really like the idea of getting a choice between Hawke and the Warden. I would hate to never get to play the Warden again and at the end of the game it seems to hint that it is not the last we hear of either of these characters, that there is more to their story. Of coarse that could depend on how each person played their story out, since some had their Wardens die.

I would like to see a new protagonist.

My first choice would be the Warden though I am quite aware that is highly unlikely.

i'd have to say having played both games i'd like to see hawke return as the main playable character for DA 3 because if you remember the seeker of the chantry said only hawke or the warden could stop this war and since as hawke is the only 1 of the 2 that commands respect from both the templars and the mages he/she would be best for the job and besides it would be nice to know why when u become viscount in DA2 that your character leaves unless of course the divine did actually send her army to kirkwall and he decided to try and head it off ? i know there's been alot of complaints about how DA2 compares to DAO what i liked about DA2 was that being easier to get into opened the dragon age universe up to people who dont normally play RPG's because they find them too boring which cant be a bad thing right ?

....Why did you feel the near to necro a four month old thread when there are plenty of newer ones dealing with the same subject? Anyway, Mr. Laidlaw has said that if we get a DA3, it will have a new PC.

I for one thouroughly enjoyed playing as Hawke in Dragon Age 2, I found his story to be much more engaging than that of The Wardens. Dont get me wrong, I loved playing as The Warden and I especially enjoyed the story of my humble City Elf rogue who went on to defeat the blight and become Warden Commander of Ferelden. Furthermore the unfolding love story between my Warden and Morrigan was entertaining especially with its culmination in Witch Hunt in which they both stepped through the eluvian as lovers. But compared to Hawke's story, it wasnt as involving to me, I think the use of a voiced protagonist helped immensely but also the sibling love between Bethany and Hawke and Leandra's murder were all very involving scenes that actually made me personally care for my character. Hawke to me was just a skilled warrior who was trying to protect his family and ended up getting mixed up in events far beyond his control and with my Hawke defending the mages at the end of Dragon Age 2 I for one am extremely interested to see what will become of my Hawke and Isabela who according to Varric "never left his side" and i want to see how this unfolds in Dragon Age 3.

I both think not, and hope not.

right<_<......why do you hope not. whats wrong with Hawke?

Because that lessens the Dragon Age brand.  The point of Dragon Age is to tell many stories inside the Dragon Age world.  Devoting two entire games to the same protagtonist would turn it from Dragon Age into The Adventures of Hawke and Company.  Boring.

Finish his story with a good, well developed, interesting DLC (that has a lot of new, unique areas to explore) and be done with him.

New story in DA3.  New setting.  Go go go.

From what I gather from what you are saying, is that you find Shepard and Company in ME boring. I found that I liked DA2 by far better then DAO. I support Hawke for DA3. But being able to choose eather Hawke or the Gary Wardon would be better then just one of them.

I kind of want it all. I want to see another game with a continuation on Hawke and I want more about the Wardens and darkspawn and I want a new protagonist with a new setting that we haven't seen before. There are so many possibilities, so much to explore within the world they have created. So just do it all Bioware, one game after another.

I enjoyed playing the Warden, I enjoyed playing Hawke, and will be satisfied by a few more DLC clearing up some ambiguity. I want new stories with a new character so I can enjoy that too.

Good God! I'll be happy not to see Hawke's face ever again! But I'll satisfy myself if EAware gives Hawke same treatment the Warden got.

I want to see both hawk and my warde. however i have to say i loved my warden more i felt ike there was more to that characters story but if you were a guy and went through the mirror in which hunt the story hasnt ended but for a girl it has ended. the only real good thing boutDA2 was the fighting styulr especally for a mage. Loved It. Id love to see both of them but also more of the world. id also like to actually see morrigan and the kid. maybe DA3 will be when you play as a character who associates with the kid, morrigan, the warden, and hawk. and with some apperances of varick, isabella, and alistar as maybe some companion choices. new threat will most likely be flemeth and world war as it said in DA2 things between ferelden an Orlais isnt going well, also the destuction of the chantry is a big plot point too. so that is what i think is too come i mean in both of the games it mentions a change that people ill fight because it scares them so yea these are my predictions for DA3 may it be a story that is solid and makes sence and have the awesome fighting skills i have come to love.:o

Hawke can have an appearence in DA3 but like in a quest that involves the new PC.

For me it would be perfect if the new story is going to be mage/templar conflict, you can choose from starters which side to be on. This could give the game real replay value if in another playthrough you choose the other side. Of course the story needs to have some other twists and turns and the NPC's reactions to your PC need to be different depending on the side you choose.

If they make us play as Hawke again I will never buy another Dragon Age game again.

Hawke was fine. If they can fit him/her in, great. If not, no biggie either. Bioware is decent at telling stories.

I would rather we have a completely new protagonist (preferably a Seeker) in DA3 than to be reminded of Kirkwall and the travesty that was DA2 every time I look at the screen. And given the reception of DA2, I don't think we have to worry about that. The only thing that irks me is that Hawke's story is incomplete, and since we won't get any more DLC it will stay like this (so much for "the most important person in Thedas," eh?). I'm just really sick of protagonists going off on some off-screen journey that will leave players guessing and will never be adequately addressed or resolved. First Revan, then the Warden, now Hawke...bleh.

Hawke was the keystone towards the Mage Templar war. NO amount of 'I don't like tihs' changes that.

I would call Anders the keystone towards the war before Hawke. And I WANT Hawke to be important (so I'm not quite sure how you got that impression) I just hate how his "legacy" was handled.

seeing as some guy leaked a trailer on youtube for dragon age 3 it seems the new protagonist is going to be an elf but theyve changed the design back to normal looking elves instead of hammerhead elves and theres some guy going around killing kings to help elves or something like that but yeah theyre doing a new protagonist for every dragon age kinda like final fantasy it keeps it fresh i like it anyway

well what ive gathered from the trailer is your main character is sme bad ass elf that lives by himself in a cave he hunts for his own food and doesnt have a actual clan so hes not dalish by the looks and theres some human guy thats going around killing human kings to free elves and he wants this bad ass hunter elves help your main character i assume to help get into castles and find hidden passages to free all elves and the world is gonna be BIG in this one fighting style is still unknown and thats all i could gather about the story

I don't think that elf will be the player's character, but he is probably a main character.

You serious? This particular trailer seems to be The Witcher 2, not DA:3!

Edit: It is the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
