I've finally finished the Mirror Quest and absolutely everything else before "All That Remains." Those that know what this quest is probably do their share of putting it off, too. If I drag the little waif along, does she learn something or is it just a waste of time and party member slot? I've lost count of how many times I just wanted to shake her until she fell apart like a rag doll screaming at her, "BLOOD! MAGIC! BAD!" If I take her along, does she finally get a clue or am I just wasting my breath, again?

depends on your class, but Merril was very helpful for that quest (I'm playing a rogue with Anders, Merril and Fenris on Nightmare). it's not relevant to her character though.

So, she doesn't have anything to say? Darn, I was hoping there might be a special admonishment cutscene like, "this! THIS is what comes from taking to demons! Would you knock it off?! If not for your sake, then for mine!"
I was planning on taking Isabella, Aveline, and Anders, since Anders has things to say about Blood Magic and both Isabella and Aveline have something to say afterward.

Honestly I don't remember that quest as being so much about Blood magic as about someone very important to Hawke personally.

Afterwards, Merril and Aveline will have something to say but it doesn't matter if you bring them on the quest or not, you can talk to them at their homes.

What do you mean, "not in order?" It could be that some of your quests got confused, there's a lot of quests on Sundermount and only so many places. Also, for some reason, if you don't kill the Unbound Pride demon in the third act before you go on Merril's quest, the two pride demons will switch. It was really shocking to me when it happened.

Merril and Aveline? Oh, you must have romanced Merril. I could never do that, personally. Blood Mages; once a demon has touched that, I want nothing to do with it.

If you bring DePuis, bringing Varric adds something. It's fun.

I tried to romance Merril but unfortunately I got blocked from all romances by Anders.

He said he was hiding from templars and needed a place to stay.

I thought "You're welcome anytime" was the friendly response, not romantic (no heart icon), but I was dead wrong. He moved in and essentially violated my fem Hawke completely without her consent and blocked all romances with any other characters.

I wanted to reload the save and start over but I didn't realize the extent of the damage until I got to Act 3 and I would have had to replay the entire Act 2.

Not to nit pick but this really should be in the story discussion section of the forums and not the class build section.

"not to nit pick" but the sign says "Character Building." Personality and approval rating are part of how you build your party members. And if you don't believe me, you can take a good look at the character-specific trees and note that there are things that rely on approval ratings.

Frankly, I just let him stay in Darktown. I don't need a bunch of refugees coming into my house at all hours of the day and night looking for healing and coming down with a case of sticky fingers. Plus, I really don't like him. Never did. Romance with Isabella is the best in my opinion, it's the most humorous and you're not stopped from flirting with anyone else. Besides, there's something to be said for experience.

I always turn DuPuis into the guard. Call it prejudice, but I'm not in the habit of letting known Blood Mages walk around if I can do something about it. I won't kill him because he's not guilty, but I won't let him free, either.
