I am looking forward to playing dragin age 2 someday soon I help
Maybe with your help you can tell me why the game prevents me from logging onto the EA server

I am getting you the following error

"We're sorry, an error has occured"
"We've noticed your computer is currently offline.  To activate your game on this computer using your EA account, you'll need to connect to the internet."

This is very frustrating since I have a dedicated high speed internet connection and I can log onto my EA account server and the Bioware social network server directly without any problems from my system.  This problem makes no sense to me and I have loaded all the patches and updates needed for this game.  Does anyone have any ideas how I can connect to the game server?

I am running XP but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

It is starting to sound like I should have not bought the game and just gotten the cracked version since it actually works! =P lol

Too much security only frustrates the purchaser of the game and not the person cracking the game =P

It would be really nice if I could actually play the game I purchased in Feb ;) lol

Hi Lancan82,

I tried the ipconfig
other then the flushdns the ipconfig seemed to work

However, dragon age 2 still thinks my computer is offline....  which is very frustrating since I can play other online games and talk to you online with the same ultra high speed connection that dragon age 2 can not find.   =(

My investigation into this so far:

1 this is tied to the EA download manager problem that they have been having for several months that has the Sims folks up in arms.

2 they have blamed firewalls and non-open ports for this (don't understand why they need about 2 dozen open ports, though), so I by passed my hardware firewall (which had all these ports open) and plugged my machine directly into the cable modem. MS software firewall off & no other firewall installed. tested all ports with a program that connects with an outside website and tries to access the ports from there. all ports confirmed open. (I also did this with the firewall attached with same result). Still could not connect to activate

3 they blame antivirus software, so I turned antivirus software off. still could not connect.

4 they blame Microsoft for patching IE to make it more secure (the activation app is based on IE tech), so I turned all security off in IE. still could not connect. entered ea sites as trusted sites with full access, still could not connect.

5 ran packet sniffer, activation app is connecting fine & handshaking fine. did see they are using icmp, don't know why. seems they are trying to get the MAC address off the network card, which wouldn't make sense for those who still use modems or wireless cards to connect to the internet
