So I am not entirely sure how this happened but one day my PC's CD/DVD drive wasn't registering/ reading any media put into the tray. I eventually fixed that problem by deleteing the Upper and Lower Filters through regedit.exe.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
That fixed that problem. Now for iTunes and also for Norton 360 i sometimes recieve messages saying that Error: "Unable to open ASPI driver gearaspi.dll..."/"The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other burning software. Please reinstall itunes."
Now I can easily get around it cause I don't use Norton or iTunes for drive related tasks, but it is annoying none the less. Since Norton and iTunes both use GearSoftware drivers I tried this solution. It didn't work, the GearSoftware installer said everything was running correctly yet nothing had changed.So I tried to locate the asf.sys file to disable it like this solution suggested. Yet I am unable to even locate any asf.sys file to even attempt that fix.
Any help would be great. Thanks
