So in Act 3 when you do the Finding Nathaniel quest. Hawke asks how Nathaniel knew the location of the thaig. He tells you that a dwarf from Vigil's Keep showed him. But if Carver, and Bethany probably, is a Grey Warden he should've known where the thaig was since he was on the expedition. So why would Nathaniel need the dwarf to show him where the thaig was?
So I guess Carver is bad at directions? (Finding Nathaniel quest)

You really expect Carver to remember the layout of the Deep Roads? The only reason Hake and company were able to navigate the place was because they had a map, which I'm assuming Bartrand took with him.

its a deep dark tunnel complex filled with monsters that he was focused on fighting the entire time. he wasn't the navigator, not ot mention its several years later.
i wouldnt remember. plus he was on bodyguard duty, he was probably more focused on spotting threats and fighting stuff than making sure he remembers the way around.

He got the location of the thaig from Bartrand, not from someone from Vigil's Keep. ...Unless Batrand was at Vigil's Keep for a time. xD
Anyway, it's better to ask from the person with the maps rahter than from someone who remembers the trail from memory. It's more efficient that way.

I know. I got it mixed up. The dwarf from Vigil's Keep was with Nathaniel. Or his uncle Dworkin was at Vigil's Keep and made the explosives they were using.
So maybe Carver didn't remember the location, but Hawke does! It's conveniently located on the map for you to fast travel to!

Nathaniel mentioned not approaching Hawke or Varric for the location of the thaig because he thought that they would follow after the Wardens if they knew (something to that effect). You know how secretive the Wardens can get. So he ended up asking Bartrand instead.
Actually, maybe he did try asking Carver/Bethany, but they referred him to Bartrand instead? I don't imagine they were too pleased seeing that double-crossing dwarf again. xD
