Am I the only one who finds it outrageously funny that so many of her admirers can't actually spell her name?

I think she is the most underrated female in this game.  By far the most attractive if you don't like female bodybuilders and filthy pirate h**kers as Ron Burgundy would put it.

I don't think she's underrated at all. Have you seen the Merrill appreciation thread?

Actually they would have round ears like the kid in Wayward son... and Alistair.
They explained in the book "The Stolen Throne" when Maric knocks up Warden Fiona (who was a elf) that elves are discoraged from breeding with humans because it would elimate their race. You can figure out the rest from here.

Feynriel's ears are slightly pointy, and his nose looks a bit elf-like as well. He talks about how his elven features marked him if you speak to him at the Dalish camp. I'm still curious as to how he's supposed to be considered "fully human." Elves are way too concerned about the dilution of their pure race. Those guys.

He has soem elvish features, but he looks more like a human with some elvish features then an elf.
As I have understood it that can happen but its not all that common for a Elf x Human child to have as prominent features as Feynriel has.

Speculating wildly here,  but I would guess that even if Feynriel had a child with an elf it would still not be an elf, might even turn out the child has less elvish features then Feynriel himself has.
Elves and Humans are two diffrent races, do we know for sure they have the same amount of cromosome? Might also be that some elvish genetic traits simply is nullified when combined with human DNA.

... I just realised I was a few seconds from writting out a genetic example I came into contact with when it comes to horses coat colours to show how complex genetics can be.. but then realised I might be taking it to far XD

Conclusion: They probably have more Human like DNA then Elvish, they usualy reseble humans more then elves. Thus they are seen more as humans ...

I thought he looked pretty much half-elf/half-human. Really, how do elves look different from humans aside from their ears and noses? They're slighter sometimes, I guess. I just don't get how the child of a member of two species who displays traits from both species is supposed to be considered fully a member of one and not at all a member of the other.

"Because magic, duh." This is fine. Just a bit silly.

Pretty much in agreement, Aveline is too....manly and like a comrade in arms. And Isy, is just a ****, face ir you won't have a long term relationship with her. I keep my relationships hetro, and at first I didn't romance Merrill, but later on with a new play, I did with the rivalry running. And I have to say that was great writing on the part of Bioware.

The logic has to be that in order to be an elf, one has to have purely elven blood. So, genetically, Feynriel is 50/50 but the hybridity, by definition, makes him not an elf. So yes, his elven blood provides for elven features but the interference of human genetics means that he's not an elf--and if he's not an elf, then he's just considered human. So he's not fully human, but perhaps the idea is that humans have a wide array of genetic variation anyway, and I'm sure there's tons of elven blood just kicking around in miniscule quantities.

So genetically, sure, hybrid. Socially, anthropologically, and magically: human.
