They're awesome in DA2
and not so awesome in Origins.

The main things that stuck out to me is the far slimmer build, large iris, and from what I've seen all of them have a green eye color. In DAO they just looked like a slightly smaller scale human from what I remember.

I don't recall Origin's dalish not wearing any shoes, but apparently thats a thing in DA2. I could be wrong though..but it stuck out to me as new.

Ya. I noticed that with Fenis & Marril, Im not sure other elves do this though?

They are also all Welsh. They abducted Welsh people, zapped them with a Dragon Ageification ray, and imported them into the game world. And then performed horrible things to change their physical appearance (think a clockwork orange for the eyes...) and forced them to go around barefoot everywhere. Because they're Welsh, and they don't deserve shoes.

WOW!!! Now that you put them side by side I would have to agree. DAO versions look much more realistic where as the DA2 looks very cartoony.

I prefer the new ones. The old ones just looked like humans with pointy ears. Case in point the comparison of The Keeper. If you didn't know "Tattoos = Dalish", you wouldn't even know she was supposed to be an elf.

The DA:O elves looked like humans. Boring. This isn't Star Trek. The DA2 elves, while I find their brontosaurus necks to be frightening, look inhuman. They look alien and otherwordly. They take you aback.

However according DA lore they are supposed to look very beatiful to humans.

They have Bajoran-looking nose bridges. No wonder the Tevinter enslaved them!

Joking aside, I think one of the reasons they wanted to differentiate them from humans more was to make them look otherworldly. People fear that which looks different and strange to them, perhaps this could be construed as giving more credence to their Tevinter-enslaved backstory.

In Origins, elves looked like humans with pointy ears.

From the look of those pictures, in DA2 they look like deformed humans with pointy ears.

I'm not really seeing the "alien beauty" bit, really. Maybe if they had multicolored scales, reverse elbows, backwards hands, three eyelids, and no noses...
