DA2 elves are horrible. there was nothing wrong with the DAO elves and they look reasonably attractive. DA2 elves look like old people or anorexic.

I hate all of the new art designs from the quanari to the elves , this just doesn't seem like the same world as compare to origins. for some reason they redid the whole brand just because they could.

Bioware had a great fantasy rpg and they killed it themselves . total fail

I thought part of the charm of DA:O was that things seemed rather mundane, from Qunari to elves you could see them as being part of the real world. That makes the racism hit home a little more.

In DA2 the Qunari looked totally monstrous and the elves felt weasely and looked like rats. I even dislike them myself just from the aesthetics of it, Merrill was the only character that was reasonably easy on the eyes. The distinction is welcome, but also jarring as it makes suspension of disbelief that much harder. I hate that they totally retconned the Qunari, and I'm divided on the new elf look.

I like them better in Origins. The eys and especailly the bridge on the Elf noses look awful. Also, too slender. they look like a hybrid of Na'vi and humans.

I dont know? he doesnt look much different to me. 

The first one is Zevran. The second one is his down-syndrome afflicted cousin.

They got dropped from the top of the fugly tree at birth and smashed every branch on the way down.

That, or one of the lead art designers for DA2 has been sleeping with James Cameron, seeing as they look a lot like fugly versions of the Navi from Avatar.

I also do not like that the Qunari look like stereotype demons. When I actually saw the first DA2 trailer I thought Hawke was fighting a demon, it wasn't until awhile later that I found out it was a Qunari re-design.

I get why the felt their elves might be needing to be more distinct, I think they failed bigtime with thier approach.

DA Lore says elfs are sposed to be beautiful to humans.. er not so much

There was a quest where that lunatic was murdering "beautiful" elven children... if she was beautiful my god what would the ugly ones be like!

My first play through i was trying to like the game, All the changes were just not to my tastes, but i was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt and was trying hard to ignore the changes. Then i saw what they did to the elves and I was like WTF! Are you kidding me what the HeII is that. I had a friend watching over my shoulder and when he saw them without me telling him anything he was like ewww what is that spouse to be.

Color me with the hate the new elf look (and the look of the whole game) crowd.

And here I thought somebody at Bioware had actually taken a look at old artwork and descriptions of the Tuatha de Danaan in regards to the new look of the elves in DA2.

Still, why the hell did they make Zevran so ugly.

Zevran obviously got a lyrium addiction between Origins and DA2. It's the only logical explaination for his stoner look.

Can someone more specifically point out the similarities between Avatar na'vi and DA2 elves, maybe with pictures?

I like the DA2 elves more. Zevran does look a bit iffy, I can't deny that, maybe due to trying to balance the new and the old. I think the mouth is not wide enough and the eyes too beady, compared to other elves especially. That picture does him no credit whatsover, too, hehe .

I'm not sure.

Origins are a bit dull, just little humans with slightly point ears.
DA2 they look like avatar aliens, for most part ok, but zevran looks strange (weak eyes and bad chin bones). Merrill on the otherhand looks adorable, much better than in origins.

Its strange, i find the DA2 Merril a lot cuter than her DA:O alter ego.
The first enchanter Osino is the other elf that looks fitting to me.
But the rest... i apreceate the DA:O-random-Elfs a lot more.

I prefer the DA2 elves as well, DAO elves looked like small humans with deformed ears, how unoriginal and boring. Now they look like a race different from humans, I like it how the designers changed their appearance and increased their distinctive features without going completely overboard making them look totally alien, silly or ugly. And yes, there were actually quite few beautiful elves in DA2, can't remember one in DAO. (However, DAII Zevran IS ugly)

Oh and I can't see the Avatar reference, totally different noses; the Na'Vi (or however they're spelled) have wide cat-like noses, eyes far apart, extremely round-shaped heads and have a quite muscular large framed body. Can''t say that about the redesigned elves, they are slim, have fragile noses, don't have wide heads and don't look very cat-like.

I am mixed.

I will admit there are some incredibly ugly NPC elves such as Orana, or the quest elves we see on Act III's first main quest.

But I do like the re-design for certain elves such as Merrill. in DAO, if not for the tatoos and ears, I couldn't tell elves from humans.

Now if only they could just make the DA2 elf neck's a tad shorter...
