I've noticed while playing and getting all my bonus items, majority of the unique armors that I can buy and had mostly have a Hawke restriction only. and since my Hawke is a mage... most of the armors I got just really are useless. am I missing something here or should i just sell those stuff since they don't mean squat?

You can sell them - DA2 no longer allows you to customize the armour of your party( You can still give your companions necklaces, ringes and runes for their armour), instead focussing on Hawke's equipment. So any armour/robes and weapons you pick up are restricted to him/her and the class you picked(along with the attributes you spending points on).

Shorter version of the above; Can't use it? Safe to sell it.

It would be nice if you could put them in a crate that was accessible to all characters on your PS3, for future playthroughs. Sacred 2 did a similar thing.
