Well this isn't a game for children I will agree but I will also agree that there were sometimes where the swearing was out of place and severed nothing in the dialogue.

I will give you that point, but that doesn't mean that rated M games are for the family, they're rated M for a freakin reason!

You're kidding me right? Complaining about bad language?!?!? Violence is ok thought right?

/facepalm

That's one thing I can't stand when I watch TV here in the US. Cutting someone's head off....no problem. Show a little breast or say a bad word....OH NOES!!!!

So....fu....no no....friggin' ridiculous.

DA's supposed to be adult, low fantasy fiction, but it seems like they're trying to find the perfect maximum amount of R-rated material that they can still get away with marketing to minors. Else, why the extremely awkward attempt to ride the fence in so many ways this time out?

One, not marketed to kids, that great big M on the corner there expressly means "Not for you lil timmy, go back to playing pokemon, where you can knife fight with sentiant creatures."

They toned down the other parts because of all the utter nonsense they've had to deal with when they don't. Sadly games, espically console games, are still stuck in the "Age ghetto" where they all "have" to be for children. The idea that an adult wants to play video games sails over people's heads. Maybe if it had not gone to consoles they could have gotten away with more, but who can say?
Hell, you can see it in this very thread. "I want to play this with my kids! wtf bioware?!" Really? Are you that guy who played GTA3 with your 7 year old and taught him how to get your money back after getting a "Lady of th eevening"? Some games are not for kids, but sadly, the companies need to pander to the "think of the children!" set or their games can get pulled from shelves.

*Edited for filtering... ah ha... fitting! :wizard:

Or ! They could be courageous and judicious about it, still avoid the AO rating, which nothing I'm talking about should approach anyway, and catch up to the others who've sailed right through the path they trailblazed with Mass Effect 1. I don't mean they're 'pushing M product on our kids' specifically, nothing so devious implied, and perhaps I should have worded my statement more broadly. I generally agree with you about what they're doing, Corporate think likes to find that socially complacent line and sit right on it. I just think, as otherwise ahead of the curb as they have been, as an industry leader in what are generally considered to be smart and art conscious mature games, they should be looking to find the head of the quality pack beyond that line. No one should ever back down from Fox News, the League of Concerned Social Reactionaries, or Wal-Mart on what kind of outline anybody in our society should be confined to. You know, don't find the line; move it forward. If one keeps just finding that safe line when there's a better one out there, they're playing corporation, and corporations serve the common denominator in pursuit of currency.

Okay, let me sum this up for you quickly. This is a RATED M GAME. On top of that, face reality, profanity is part of life, even MORE so in adult couture. Isn't it fairly self explanatory that profanity is going to be around?

HBO adult culture maybe.

A day for an average adult going to work, being in public places, around family...cussing is not that prevalent.

I work in healthcare(so im around a lot of people), and let me tell you this,I have yet to meet someone who doesnt swear.

Basicly it's a part of being a damn adult so it's time to grow up and deal with it.

Let's not take this to an extreme case.  I never said people do not cuss.
Any real life audio taken from a random 60min of life will have considerably less cussing than the Wire.

Profanity is bad mmkay? But demon worship, possession, dismemberment, gore, death of family members, slavery, and drinking is just fine for your kids? Are you trolling about the profanity being an issue?

Well yeah, generally, but The Wire is a show set in prisons and in high stress criminal situations. It's setting and character appropriate. It's also an extreme example. Most of pay cable's more recent shows are pretty well appropriate in the language department.

So... the language is offensive... and the bloody violence and oversized Jugs are not?

...Get your priorities right. And if you intended to show this to your children... what the heck is wrong with you?!

Well, I'm ok with the swearing and didn't think there was that much profanity. As for sharing DA2 with the kids errr wouldn't that be highly inappropriate, being M/18+ rated and all? That argument confuses me...murder, serial killers, exploding bodies ok for children....bad words too much? Posted Image

I am fine with the swearing. The lack of nudity from the Arishok during his musical number in the hidden fourth act was disappointing.
