Who said that line? Alistair? before or after he dumped me? I'll never forgive Alistair for dumping me!!! EVER!!!! (but I end up playing human nobel on my 3rd play through, and married Alistair....)

I enjoy both DA O and DA2, they all have memorable moments, and fantastic lines. Although, I personally favor DA2, mostly because LIs are more of my kind of guy/girl, and Hawke is fully voice. I like voiced characters, the little mute girl I played in DA:O is a bit blank compare to my quick wit smart ass rouge Hawke

[edit: adding more vent about Alistair]

Oghrens final words in DAO are my favorites but overall they're all good. I just wished we would have been able to control what we said during the speech before the final battle.

Indeed.  I don't think I've ever used brackets so much in all my life as in the past couple of weeks: 'I didn't like this about DA2 (still loved it though!), whereas I loved this (still didn't think the game was perfect!)' Yikes.

Can't think alike, not all the time
A different mind is not a crime!

My rhyme, appalling though it may have been, was intentional. =]

Yeah, I've been looking around and it seems like if you push the wrong button a horde of angry comments will flood in "Fanboi!Fangirl!" "Console-user!" ""Hater!" etc.

I am an extreme pacifist, and these angry threads make me nervous. Makes me want to scream "Everyone calm down and get naked!"

There is no logic to this inclination. Like the Ogre S & M underwear.

Suggestions for a group hug always works in the end, one way or the other. Folks will either get with it and snuggle, or run screaming from the thread. Everyone wins. I feel I'm telling you something you already know :wizard:But naked is also good.

Also, they do wear bondage outfits, don't they? Dirty beasts!

Roughly on-topic  - despite it being somewhat difficult to stop thinking about S/M Ogres (d'you suppose they have a safety word?) - Alistair is still the hottest male for me, both in terms of character and dialogue. Their physical similarity was partly why I liked Anders in Awakening, but that seems to have disappeared.

In fact, Anders seems to have popped on a couple of pounds since DA:A, especially about the face - is it the Grey Warden thing, or does being possessed by a spirit increase one's desire for snacks?

Edit: In the spirit of clarification, I am not averse to a well-padded male.

No, it is not. It reflects issues regarding politics, faith, oppression, war, abuse and misguided idealism, not just "true wuv".

I have documentary evidence that I am pro-group hugs. (Yes, you are spot on! I remember you now.)

Whenever I look at the ogres I giggle in an extremely juvenile manner. I guess the alternative would be worse, seeing as an ogres wang would completely take all the attention in a battle. @____@ (CANT LOOK AWAY. FORGETS TO CAST FIREBALL. ITS LOOKING AT ME.)

I agree with you about Alistair, though apparently the blight can really herp derp your face after a couple of years. When I met King Alistair I basically ignored his "new exterior" (ILU for what you are inside Alistair.).

And you are spot on about Anders. I guess maybe Justice/Vengeance really likes eating? Spirits always have the munchies? He has to eat for two? I used a mod to change his face, because the bloated look just put me off. I don't mind well-padded, but Anders just looked like he had a bad case of water retention. I wish they had kept the original VO for Anders, and his sense of humor. =]

Just reading the title of this thread gave me tingles and warm fuzzy feelings all over.

As for Anders gaining a few, I do remember Alastair mentioning Wardens get an increased appetite? :P

The Darkspawn clearly missed a trick. Naked Ogres = freaked out Fereldans = Archdemon wins!

Oh, and yes, Alistair kind of looked like he'd had botox. Bloody celebrities.

QFT. If I could just get DA:O with the DA II Combat and Dialouge System.. I'd die a happy man.

DA:O ending lines were great.

Oghren: "It's sodding honor for everyone then. That's war for you."
Oghren (again): "Let the Stone turn red with the blood of heroes. Today, I will be the warrior you taught me to be!"

Sten: "The Arishok asked 'what is the blight?' I stand here looking into it's heart and still I have no answer for him...but I think perhaps you do. You have brought us this far, do not doubt it."

DA2 ending lines were also great.

Carver: "In war, victory."
Carver (again): "I'm proud to have you as my brother. That's been unsaid for too long."

Warden: "Alistair, she's one Archdemon short of a blight."
Alistair: "Yes, but she seems more... "Ooh, pretty colors!" than "Muahaha! I am Princess Stabbity! Stab, kill, kill!"

I disagree. The dialogue in Dragon Age Origins is much more romantic and Shakespearean...less realistic and more "how many memorable things can I say in this time frame". At the same time, it is also extremely unoriginal in my perspective. It lacked any true personality, and it didn't help that your character couldn't even talk.

Listen to Hawke in that battle speech at the end. He is clearly afraid, but at the at the same time he embraces death and willingly goes into battle. It's short, sweet, and so true to the character. No need for a "For Frodo!" or Braveheart line.

Actions speak louder than words. Alistair not giving you a choice in his taking the Archdemon killshot means more than any words can say. The way Anders acted seems so selfish in comparison.

Huh did you really listen to the battle speech? The cheesiest thing is when Hawke tells the non party members what they should do. Fenris, stay close and jump in whenever needed. Aveline, help out if you see an opening. Isabella, strike from the shadows and cause chaos. Really? Hawke tells them their role which they should know by now. That's like when I go to a raid for the one millionst time as a healer and someone tells me. Alex, you heal. Really? I thought I am gonna tank with my healer.

True, if Anders would have died or something, it would have made his 'sacrifice' clearer. Like for example Zathrian.

Well I do actually like DA2. But I agree, the perfect fantasy game right now would be a game with DA2's combat system, a bit of a buff for mages, with DA2's femHawke VO and Varric, otherwise in the world of DAO. Oh I liked the other characters too, in fact I liked pretty much all of them. But Varric really seriously is someone who's right up there with the most memorable BW characters ever.

I mean really, a frigging dwarf with such a wit and attitude and handy as heck in a fight too. Who'd have believed it?

Yeah, there is nothing like seemingly endless spawning enemies to enjoy falling asleep to.

The battle system in DA2 is so bad that you could literally play it with your eyes closed.

The entire lead up to the ending battle in DA:O had me freaking out. The decision on the Dark Ritual. The last words all touched me, even Oghren's (who I strongly disliked). And a moment in gaming that will stand out to me forever is when you're running up to the gates right after the last words, and the music swells, and everyone standing on the sides is yelling encouraging words...It felt amazing and it brought tears to my eyes. The ending of DA:O really affected me emotionally and I'll never forget it.

I didn't find the last words in DA2 to be nearly as emotion-invoking, but I also didn't feel anywhere near the same bond with these characters as I did with the companions in DA:O, so that's a big part of it.

I think another part of it is that the last words in DA:O are inspiring. You're heading off to the fight The Big Bad, and it's exciting if not also frightening. There was a great build up to it, and the companions' words reflect that. In DA2 there's this sense of doom. You feel like you're not sure if you're doing the right thing, and I think the companions' words reflect that too.

The battle system in DA2 is playable with closed eyes? Then what does that make DA:O considering I killed the Queen of the Blackmarsh LITERALLY asleep (difficulty was on hard i believe)

Is this just for LI convos? Cause I have yet to find one that matches what "Friendship" level Oghren said at the Gates of Denerim (esp on a US run) for making me tear up. About cleaning up his act and being the warrior the Warden taught him to be...and esp if you do his quest and get him with Felsi.
And yea, I know several months down the line he gets a brainectomy and goes back to square 1 in Awakenings...but still he has a very moving dialogue there.
Leliana's, Morrigan's, both good. GW Carver with Male Hawke has a special "Hawke Bro's against the badguys" feel to it and call him a jackass for getting you to cry in front of all those people. Isabella shows surprising depth romanced and in that conov though I prefered the broody elf. Fenris swept my LadyHawke away with his speech (Friendmanced as a mage siding with mages, tricky but not undoable).
IN all I still think Oghren's is my favorite speech in both games. Very Lord of the Rings feel to it.
