So I'm a dwarf, but the keeper of the ashes asks me about the human noble past, and I then meet the human noble father after the questions of the ghosts.

So, why does it think I'm a human noble?

What platform are you running on?

If it's the PC, have you installed the Toolset or enabled the developer console?

Have you used the dev console at all in your game? If so, do you know what scripts?

I know that during testing (I am in QA), calling scripts from the console, and especially warping to various areas of the game, had the potential to break encounters or scripts. Unless it was to specifically test something we knew a particular dev script wouldn't break, we were discouraged from using them to prevent reporting false positives.

Some people in the Spoilers forum reported similar issues, and based just on the feedback from the users in those threads, using the dev console has caused issues. A common one seems to be using the dev console to add talents or skills.

There could also be issues with the toolset itself, but I think most of this is from having overrides in the scripts, which you said you are not using. I'll need to look into this a bit more.

Based on the symptom, it would seems as though a flag specifying your origin is either not set, or set incorrectly, resulting in the game thinking you're a human noble at this stage. Is there a save point you have prior to you either a) installing the toolset, or B) using the dev console that isn't too far back from the Urn?

For some people, uninstalling the toolset has resolved some of their issues, but this will probably only work most reliably for save games prior to the installation of the toolset (another tester here did say he had some success with saves prior to the obvious corruption, so it might work to use a toolset that is perhaps prior to entering the region).

The best bet for a workaround would be to uninstall the toolset.  Hopefully that works.

Are your core override folders empty? Many of the core includes will get exported there.

Bryan Derksen made a comment, which is now in the FAQ here:

Sounds like there's an ID mismatch between the toolset that was released and the resources shipped with the game. Therefore you aren't saving the game with these different values set correctly, and it will stay with your save.

Look for Derksen's comment and see if that explanation and further link helps out.
