First, many thanks for this thread! here are a few questions I had regarding your experiance.
Did you get to fiddle with the scripts for combat tactics or did you just use default AI. How much did you use the pause feature to micro manage abilities?
It sounds like you completely forgo a rogue most of the time for mage damage, did you find chests or doors that you had to pass up because of the inability to pick the locks, was this common?
Did you get to develop the coercion skill at all, if so did you find it helpful in story progression?
You're quite welcome! I hope I can answer these well enough.
We hardly touched scripts for combat tactics, actually. Perhaps it's just me, but I'd prefer to switch to a character and
make them use that potion or heal that ally, as oppose to hoping the AI initiates it in time. The pause feature worked very well to micro manage, and once you've got used to it, it takes hardly any time at all to quickly switch characters and activate abilities. I made much use of it.
We found no doors that were locked for a rogue to pick, though that could be down to where we went, but there was plenty of chests. Many, many of those we came across. It was a pain, having to avoid them because Leliana hadn't got a high enough Deft Hand skill.
Oh, I pressed for the coercion skill to be taken at character creation. I'm glad we did, because by the end of our playthrough, we realised that it was useful enough to boost to Level 3! There are plenty of persuade checks in the game, in story dialogue and so on, it's always great to have that ability to sway someone using it. So yes, coercion is extremely useful, not only in main story progression, but many sub quests.
