I don't know if this has come up before... and I kinda sure it has, but Would you all rather have waited for the the game to come out 2-3 years later from the release of awakening and DA:O for it to be a better game?

The game itself was cool and all, specially for the combat.. but... the story.. felt a little.. lacking... and short .. really really short.. Like most of it was made up of side quests.. oh god... the side quests.. (its horrribblee when you have to replay it all.. T__T) And the cliff hanger at the end.. because not even WE know where our champion is..

But enough spouting!

I would of gladly waited 3 years for an epic game with a satisying ending then something made up in a short time...
I also would gladly wait Three years for DA3 to come out! It may be too soon to talk about that.. but... I would rather wait 3 years for bioware to make an epic story for DA2. :wizard:

Oh, absolutely yes. I think DA2 has a great story that was poorly executed. If more time was available on it, I think I'd have enjoyed it FAR more. I've always loved the writing of the team, and read both DA novels and loved them too, so I have confidence that more could have been done with this. It breaks my heart to see the lost potential. Also, more time could've been given to other matters (such as no repeating dungeons!).

For another game with the story-telling quality of Origins, I'd wait five years if I had to, and throw my money at Bioware with glee.

Just remember, next time don't buy a game based on when it is released, but rather what you think is a suitable time frame since your purchase of its predecessor.

This is a win:win because others can get new games sooner, and you can buy them 1,2 or 30 years after release depending on your arbitrary requirements at the time.

Yeah, wouldn't have minded another year to get more content to the game.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.
I loved DA2, i felt the story was more interesting, dynamic and more personal than DA:O's generic evil monster story. the character interactions felt more real too, and i LOVED all the side quests. they were far more detailed, had dialogue, stories, characters, ect. all in them rather than "go kill wolves"

as for the length, its not short at all...my first playthrough was like 35 hours. my current playthrough which is at the beginning of act 3 right now is 32 hours and i JUST got to act 3. i know some people want something of staggering length like 60-80 hours, but eh. thats a bit much honestly. i cant even count the number of DA:O playthroughs ive abandoned because i was like "yay im halfway through, on right, i still have a ton of stuff to do. im going to play something else...."

DA2 is full of great and sometimes brilliant ideas. There is so much potential, and so much to love in the game. That they managed the game on the timeframe they did is very impressive, but.....

Like you I would have rather have had them take the time to flesh out the design/development. More varied maps, exploring more of Kirkwall itself, more choices within the quests themselves, increased number of conversations with companions, etc.

Also would have rather had gameplay closer to Origins, but even given that wasn't the game they set out to make with DA2, I think many of us agree DA2 could still have been a shining gem in its own right instead of a diamond in the rough so to speak.

Oh, no, I DID! Just... >.> would have rather waited... I'm kinda picky on my length I play.. and I was dragging my feat on the that game so I could get at least half the gameplay as origins.. I liked the sidequests, but once you've seen them.. you've seen them! .__.' And it gets old after your fourth play-through that you have to bring the Seerabas to die either on his hands or the Qunari.. you could not do it.. but I'm a bit of a paranoid completist..

I absolutely would have rather waited. If they'd spent another year on this game it would have been really great rather than just good. The bugs and unfinished...well...everything are very annoying.
