So, I'v just completed DA 2 and I missed a couple of achievements (Romance and companion, thought I was romancing Isabella, but never got another chance to speak to her about it after the first "romance" scene).
Also, the "questioning beliefs" mission for Anders got bugged on me as everytime I go to speak to him he tells me to leave. No cut-scene, just some random shout.
So I thought I'd check out Youtube and see where I went wrong with a few missions I I notice this elf in whoever was doing the playthrough's squad, I'm thinking "who the hell is that?"
About 10 mins later I realised it was Fenris, how the hell did I playthrough the whole game without meeting him? Where the hell is he in the game?
How did I miss this?

You meet Fenris by doing a quest you receive per letter in act 1.
About the other two thing i can't say you much.

He is in the Bait and Switch quest, which you get from a letter during Act 1.

Funny story: (to me at least)
So, I don't like Fenris, not because of some sooper-important-self-absorbed reason that I want to roll threads about, but simply because he is really mean to Merrill, whom I adore.
So I've been simply choosing the "time to part ways" option after his recruitment quest. I was happy with that. The other day it occurred to me that by doing this, I was actually leaving that poor elf girl out in the cold with a dead papa and nowhere to go.
This made me feel pretty bad about my decision, and now I am beck to the point of having to do 2/3 of his quests and kill him in the end. Not what I would have preferred, but sometimes you have to go out of your way to do the right thing.
lol.

Yeah, i understand you. I'm suffering from the chronic helper syndrome too. You mean the girl in his act 2 quest, right (propably the ugliest character in the game, but that's not the point)?
Then you have to consider: By not recruiting Fenris, he maybe didn't attack the slavers in act 2. Or at least he was less menancing to them. So maybe they did not gut her papa to fuel their blood magic and he still cooks soup for them...

Thank you : )
I guess I hadn't thought it through correctly. I remeber now that it was your character's imminent arrival that was given as an excuse for that murder.
Even with this information though, I am not sure that she is not better off at my place.
I guess it really depends on how long she, sandal and Bodahn stay at my place after the battle. I don't see why they wouldn't stick around, but then again, that is probably the first place the templar reinforcements would have raided when they landed.
I guess I'll have to mull it over in my head and decide what I want to believe and then play accordingly.
It is very interesting though.

If the Tevinters were willing to kill the girl's father to level up, they were pretty much screwed to begin with.
I'd say she's far happier being a paid servant and attempting to cure Merril's tone-deafness.
As for Fenris being "mean" to Merril. He's hostile to all mages. That's his default stance.

You could just let Danarius have him.Parrk wrote...
