So I've been flirting with the boy, even though he hates me and we disagree about everything (hot.) I did bitter pill, and then he showed up at my mansion.... I tried every dialogue option available and they all ended in him storming out... did I do something wrong at some point?  The questioning beliefs quest won't trigger either... will I get a chance in act 3, or do I need to go ask boring needy Anders to move in and forget about my tortured love?

I've been careful not to flirt with anyone else, and in the "talk to fenris" quest at the beginning of the act he asked if he was the only one and when I said yes he said he would consider it, which I think means I'm on the right track.  For the record, I played to the end of the act, and tried things with Anders (I waited until the end of the act in case anything happened with Fenris but it didn't) and am super bored (plus he pulled some "can I please move in with you, the templars are hunting me" guilt trip, and I couldn't bring myself to turn the poor lad out)  and the Qunari slaughtered my party, so I'm using the opportunity to try the act over again.  Because Hawke can't get enough of the tortured, angry type.

Anyhow, how far back in the act do I have to go to get him in the sack?  Do I have to get him to hate me some more?  I read somewhere that if you are pursuing a rivalry affair, you have to have your rivalry score at 50% at least... I'm not sure if I'm there.  Also, is there any way to pursue Anders and Fenris at the same time?  They basically hate each other, and I hear Fenris is the jealous type too, so I'm assuming not.

Do not go back. You need to go talk to him at his mansion and flirt with him there. If your rivalry is high enough, then he will come to you at your mansion and "magic time".

can I do that in act 3, or does it have to be in act 2? If I go to his mansion in act 2, nothing happens, even after we argue at my house and he storms out. Oh and it doesn't give me the option of asking him not to leave at all before he leaves.

i got the sexy blue kiss and the fade to sex. Prior to that quest I had him mostly friend on the meter though.

What's your friend/rivalry? You need to be at 50% or higher to get his questioning beliefs quest.

don't remember. I worked to friendship fairly high, though. (Lots of quests with Varric alone because he & Fenris get along, being mean to Merril, siding with templars and sending mages to the circle/or death if they were blood.)

A question from me also: I am aware you must achieve 50% friendship/rivalry for a romance, but after the romance starts do you still have to take care of these points?
Mean I romanced Fenris on rivalry, but now I am getting plenty of frienship points in early act 3 from him.. pretty sure I am already below 50.. does it mean he would never come back to me, or are these points not important any moret at this stage?

They're important.  If you don't get him maxed either rival or friend the romance will never complete.  If you're not enough in either range, he won't stick with you.  Once you max either, approval locks, but until then, yeh, you're going to have problems.

From my experience, if you're below 50 rivalry at end of act 2, it's hard to rack it up to 100 and complete the romance.

Also, you cannot pursue both... if you take Anders in, it's over with Fenris even if you had sexy times (and he storms off).

I had Fenris on 100% friendship by the end of act one, I've flirted with him at every opportunity yet having just completed Bitter Pill and gone back to my mansion, wen I ask him not to go he leaves and I can't start the romance. What has gone wrong?

You still need to do the questioning beliefs quest i imagine.  Unless you've had sexytimes with someone else.  If you have, then the romance is probably off.

I thought I'd done that in Act 1. I seem to have blown it somehow :( I wish the romances weren't so damned complicated.

questioning beliefs is in act 2, I believe.
*shrug* I dunno, I always get the sexy times but then again I don't flirt with anyone but him if I romance him.

I'll go back to an older save. I thought I'd flirted with him at every opportunity, but obviously not :(

I have both Fenris' Questioning Beliefs and Bitter Pill on my quest-list now, does it matter which one I do first? (For properly romancing him, of course.)

Questioning beliefs is in every act actually. You need the 50% rivalry or friendship mark to get it in Act II.

You will get the smecksy times after done the Questioning, even if you did the "Bitter Pill" quests first. They play out slightly different if you do them in a different order, but which order one prefers is I think mostly a personal preference.

Just go to your house at some point after having done both.

so update - we got it on - but then he left! And later I heard him tell anders that leaving me was the hardest thing he's ever done!!! :( He's still wearing the red armband, but I'm pretty confused about it because I gave him that sword in Act 3 and he hates me for it. My rivalry is now maxed out but the act 3 questioning beliefs quest won't trigger no matter how many times I go to his house or my house at night... has anyone else had this problem? Are we broken up for good?

Have you done his Alone quest yet?  You need to do that before Questioning Beliefs shows.

Edit: So far, for you, his romance has gone as scripted.  Provided you haven't done Alone, you're not having issues.

Yep, you do not get back together until you do Alone. Also Questioning Beliefs in act 3 might not trigger until after Alone.

I did alone, right at the beginning of the act.... ugh, all this trouble. I should've just stayed with anders, he was way easier, and we could have had such a nice garcia - marquez esque revolutionary romance.

Did you by chance have sex with someone after he left? If you hook up with someone else, even if you dump them, Fenris won't come back to you.

Do you have your Friendship or Rivalry maxed?

Nevermind. I learned to read.

I romanced with him and we almost had sex but he gave some speech about how it kept bringing back memory flashbacks and he left my house. But then we made out at the end of the game before the final battles and the end story said I was traveling with him. So I guess we made up?
