Seriously weren't Isabela and Fenris the most 2 dimensional characters. They literally have no development, I mean okayt granted Isabela returns with the tome of koslun if she romances you but she is still exactly the same otherwise and that doesnt stop her making stupid decisions later.
With Fenris I doubt its worth discussion, throughtout the entire game no matter what there are only two aspects to him hating the Magisters and brooding.
Gaaaah :o

I can't speak for Fenris since I never really used him much. However, did you listen to Isabela's story? There's a huge layer of complexity to why she likes boats and sex so much. She's a very flawed character and I love it.

Isabela has a female semi ****ty Jack Sparrow feel to her (i was half-expecting a huge wooden wheel to come rolling by at some point), but she is actually very unique and has a good storyline if you pay attention.

Fenris is sort of shallow though and does not evolve very much during the game, personality wise

I find it fun to play a mage and keep him in my party all the time, just to ****** him off.

I see what the writers were going for with the characters and from having watched my wife play the game I can see why some people think the characters are two dimensional. The writers used a classic characterization trick. They made the characters archetypes and then throughout the story the characters either confirm or deny that type. In my playthrough Isebella became a very different person by the end of the game, but in my wife's playthrough she went through no character shift at all. DA2 uses choice in a very unique way. If you follow certain actions a certain thing will happen. There is no choice at the moment of crisis, but instead all the choice you make leading up to that moment decide what happens. As far as Feneris goes he has every reason to hte mages and as you learn more about him he becomes a very tragic figure. At the end of his storyline you find out that he wanted to be a slave and wanted to be the freak that he is in order to save his family, and he can kill the family he tried to save if you let him. I didn't get Feneris to full friendship, so I never really saw what all his endings could be, but I know he ended up siding with me after first leaving me for Merideth at the end. In the end he choose friendship over his hatred of mages which to me speaks to a change in character.

Fenris has a depth to him, and if you listen to banters he doesn't only evolve, but he attempts to change his life and actually have a life. Whether he succeeds or not depends on how you handle him.

No he doesn't. Fenris is a cabbage. A slow dying cabbage.

Have you read the divine comedy? Dante Alligheri is about fifteen bazillion times more broody then Dante, son Sparda can ever hope to be :?

Just like Fenris can be convinced that not all mages suck, Isabel can be convinced to be good. They both have very valid reasons to be as they are based on their lives and you can unfold their stories as well as alter their way of thought. On the surface they are both shallow. With both it takes time to reach under the surface and bring forth what lies beneath. I understand if some claim it is not worth all the work, I personally prefer personalities which require a bit of work and insight. For me other characters were more simple and one sided, though all of them had their dilemmas and problems that aided with relating to them.

Fernis 2D? Nah, bring him around and try both friendly and rivalry, he got more than 'I hate mages' to offer.

Self inserted fan fiction, not sure what your on about?. I was on about the divine comedy a famous poem, by dante algihieri basically dante goes through purgatory paradise and hell and he describes what he sees and his thoughts.
