So far im enjoying the game yet im having tones of problems with the game freezing either during conversations, or right after a fight.  This is driving me nuts, cause i have to reset the system, then wait for the game to load and if its a cut scene, i have to rebattle foes, and had to do this seven times during the dissent companion mission, am I the only one having this issue?

Nope, I experienced a lot of lockups when I was playing too. Quite frustrating.

Nah, you're not the only one, it's happened to me a couple of times. The only thing to do I've found until they release a patch is to save the game A LOT, so you don't have to go back too far when you reboot. Annoying, but I can live with it. For now.

i'm new to bioware games, but is this a problem with them? I've never played a released game this glitchy before.

because this was a horribly made PS3 port. You were sold garbage, if you get freezing way to often, see if you can return the game. It's a good game, just not on the PS3 or Xbox 360 - the PC is the only reliable and working version. Try steam if you have a decent laptop or computer.

The freezing is annoying, but consistent saves fixes the backtracking issue on reboot. At least to a degree. I honestly don't know what the other big issues people are commenting on are. The freezing (knock on wood) is the only issue I've had, which seems to happen randomly. I could be doing anything and the lockup would happen.
I can suffer through a few reboots to play, the game is simply amazing, until the patch is released.

My PS3 froze mere seconds after the longest most painful battle I've ever had (the High Dragon). I was thrilled.

I've noticed Bioware games tend to have both more minor bugs and game ruining/ending bugs than most other companies games, but the balance to the technical problems is the quality and quantity of both gameplay and story.

As for the freezing in Dragon Age II, the best preventions against the issue are turning off auto-save and disconnecting from the internet.

I'm 10 hours into the game with one freeze during combat with just auto save turned off. I've had several other glitches besides freezing, but I've managed to avoid most major pitfalls by rotating three saves and knowing about the major game ruining bugs that have been found. You can find information about them in the Dragon Age II Wiki.

Funny, because there are just as many freeze problems in the PC forums as there are on the XBOX and PS3 forums and it's been a known issue as stated by Bioware on all 3 platforms.   Not to mention the slew of DirectX and graphics card driver issues on the PC.  The only thing that makes having a PC version even remotely better is the ability to mod the save game using a third party editor(which cannot fix freeze issues).  My PS3 has frozen 1 time while playing the game, right at the beginning and never again.  In addition my girlfriend's copy froze maybe once as well, so it's no more of less likely to freeze than any other platform's version.  In addition the patch has been sent to be certified by QA from Sony, Microsoft, and EA and is believed to include, in it's 100+ bug fixes, a fix for the freezing issues, although Bioware has chosen to remain silent on what is included in the patch until it has been approved via the certification process; which is 100% understandable since they would be flamed on here all over if they told us what was in it now and then part had to be removed in order to release the patch lol.  The patch thread for the PS3 is found here:

I've experienced some freezing issues. when Qunari are attacking kirkwall, after fighting a horde of looters, froze in the same place 3 times in a row. No big deal, just avoided that area, the one that pissed me off, was about 15 mins into fighting Arashok, had his health down to ~15% and it froze. That was after he had killed me about 3 or 4 times, so I was pretty frustrated to say the least. Hopefully the patch will take care of the issue, we'll just have to wait and see.
