Fenris and Isabela...Together?

I think that this kind of ruins the sincerity of Fenris' romance. Considering that when you sleep with him, he leaves you, but when Isabela sleeps with him... everything is just perfect? I know why he leaves, because of his memories, but why wouldn't he leave Isabela? The only reason I can think of is that they have no emotional connection to eachother so he doesn't remember his past. If thats not the case then I'm pretty upset about the situation then.

I see it as exactly what you said - no emotional connection. Isabela isn't interested in a deeper, long-term relationship. She thinks he's hot and wants a fun time. He knows this, and is fine with a simple relationship like that. For them, it's just a fun time - friends with benefits. There's no feelings involved, just like Isabela says initially if Hawke sleeps with her.
With Hawke, Fenris gets all these uncomfortable feelings. They bother him, because Hawke brings out all sorts of things in him that both confuse and terrify Fenris. So Fenris, overwhelmed by everything, runs away. Eventually he sorts through them, and comes back to Hawke.
This is consistent with both of their characters. Hawke is kind of a warrior-therapist who helps people work through their own major malfunctions over the course of the game... without Hawke, you can mostly assume that they won't change.

Also listen to his dialog next time. He tells Isabela he doesn't want to hear her story, he's not interested and done talking. Then Hawke sits down and says, "I like listening to you talk" and he says, "There's few greater pleasures than talking to a beautiful woman." It's not that he didn't want to talk. He just wanted to talk to Hawke, not Izzy.

Isabela and Fenris is just fun time, no commitments. He doesn't share a connection to Isabela that he does with Hawke. You can see it one of the first times you visit Fenris in Act 2. Isabela is talking to him, and says she has a funny story. Fenris cuts her off and says he's done talking. She says alright, then leaves. Hawke comes in, and he can't stop talking to her. He starts pouring his soul out about his escape. It seemed very clear message to me what he thought about Isabela and Hawke. Isabela is no attachments, no emotional intimacy. Hawke is someone he wants to share a deeper connection. Whether that is good friends, or something more, is up to Hawke.

Hell yeah
I was under the impression it only happens if you sleep with him and then go off with someone else (which in that case you cant continue the romance with Fenris)
So I cant see him being celibate for the rest of his life:blink:

If Hawke chooses a relationship with someone else, he gets his freak on with Isabela. Why not? She's a no commitment kind of girl. She's not going to pin him down. And he doesn't have to talk to her about feelings.

I'd choose Anders, because of the possibilities for horrible slashfics.

I probably should have added that I didn't care if it was casual sex. My beef was, or would have been, that Fenris would stay with Isabela but not Hawke. But that irratation would only be relavent if Fenris and Isabela had a loving relationship like Hawke can have with him, which is why I asked for opinions on it.Vhalkyrie wrote...

They might be together for a few years depending on the end of Act 2 and whether you get Isabela her boat or not. I doubt they'll be getting married any time soon if that's what you're thinking.Rubyfair wrote...

Maybe that was too explicit? It seemed tame because the first thing that popped into my head was much worse.
Too explicit? No that was just the right amount of vulgarity and humor, real laughter was produced.

As in, Isabela offers to sleep with you, and you said no. And then Fenris offers to sleep with you, and you say no. In this case, they would hook up in Act 3. This was the intention when it was written.
Looking at the scripting, however, it seems that it is checking to see if the Isabela and Fenris romances are ended. Which means you may have slept with them, but then agreed to "not bring feelings into it", thereby breaking off your romantic engagement.
So it sounds like if this banter is coming up in Act 3, then Fenris/Isabela are operating under the assumption that you are no longer in a romance.

That's probably how it goes. The romances are all different, and sometimes I can't quite recall what conversations are involved. Especially for those I didn't write. But basically, the Fenris/Izzie banter shouldn't happen unless you have broken it off, or turned them down.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe any active given romance ends if you either:
- select a heartbreak at any time
- have either Anders or Merrill move in with you (does not end romance for whoever moved in)
Is this correct?
