Fenris and Isabela never offered to sleep with me, I never flirted and I got that banter from those two. Was I supposed to?

LOL, the way I remembers it, with Fen, it's so easy to turn him off, you don't ever need to use the heart broken dialog option. Even if you flirt with him every time, give him all the gifts, do all his personal quest right, he still might not get into the relationship with you, and when he does, he never moves in... (I'm sourly disappointed....) Seriously, I've never romanced anyone this difficult in a game.

But I like Fenris, the reluctant and hesitation is consistent with his background and personality. If he comes off as desperate as Anders, he won't be cool~ I don't mind replaying a couple of quests to get his romance right.

That's probably how it goes. The romances are all different, and sometimes I can't quite recall what conversations are involved. Especially for those I didn't write. But basically, the Fenris/Izzie banter shouldn't happen unless you have broken it off, or turned them down.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe any active given romance ends if you either:

- select a heartbreak at any time
- have either Anders or Merrill move in with you (does not end romance for whoever moved in)

Is this correct?

Yes, apparently Anders and Merrill romances supercede all the others.  Though, I don't know who supercedes who if you romance both Anders and Merrill.  Who ever was last?

So I hate isabela less now. I got the banter where she and fen are talking about how she has the hots for him, and he quite politely told her to "keep her distance". <3 fenris.

The dialogue is actually more amusing if you aren't romancing him.

My guess is whoever you invite to move in first.

Yes. That sounds correct.

Yes, that sounds like intended behavior. I think someone described Anders and Merrill's romances as "unstoppable juggernauts", and that's fairly accurate.

o.O Well then, decidedly I will not be pairing Isabela and Fenris in act 3 if I'm romancing Anders. I'm that kind of silly jealous even when I'm not going for him, I don't want to hear of their sexy times!!! :P

guurl I know how you feel Posted Image Its a silly reason but I liked the idea of fenris being the bloke she couldn't seduce because he's too stoic and cool for her. Which made him liking hawke that extra special. From his conversations I assumed he would never let anyone get that close to him unless there was a lot of trust ,  so the petty fangirl in me didn't appreciate izzy being hawke's substitute LOL

It was after hearing such flirty banter between Isabela and Fenris, post the "I can't do this" Fenris departure, that my Hawke went a little jealous coo-coo and said to Anders "how long will it take before I drive you mad?". Honestly. Without that flirty flirty Isa/Fen banter, my poor Hawke would have been true to sad, emotionally broken Fenris (I had selected the "we can work through this" option). [I think, specifically, the flirty banter which flipped Hawke's switch was the "would you like to keep guessing what color my underwear is?" dialog--rage!]

I had hoped that my Hawke could later break up with Anders after it becomes apparent what a nutter he was and then turn back to Fenris all "Waa! --you were distant and then flirty with Isabela, and Anders was super-intense emotionally and I was desperate for commitment and affection, even though it was you I really wanted; take me back, please!!".

Sadly, I had enacted this plan *before* reading the thread which mentions the "unstoppable juggernauts". I had a sad! So instead, my Hawke will fully side with loony Anders, because he (m!Hawke) cannot go back to Fenris after all. It did make Fenris' personal quests much more poignant, because he was the ex Hawke never got over. I actually put them off for a while, because my Hawke (ahem!) was just so upset.

Fenris and Isabela belong together. I wish them all the best.

Far, far away from me.

Somehow, I find Fenris 15% less appealing than he was before I read this thread.

I don't think she's using him. I perceived it as a mutual friends with benefits relationship. But that's just me, I suppose.

I nailed Isabella. But she's a hard one to complete, Merrill was easy. The banter between Fenris (A killing machine!) and Isabella is hysterical, but then- she's done it with just about anything. I almost got to Aveline- but chose the broken heart when she was still acting like a dolt for that moronic knight- and she responded KINDLY lol.
Sorry, I am not going to pursue gay Anders- he's rarely used anyway. I wish Fenris would waste him, frankly. LOL! Fenris is one cool cat. It's hysterical sometimes between the characters and keeps the game light and fun when it needs to be.

I don't know =) think that Isabella and Fenris would be quite sweet together. I guess it was just supposed to show up if you ended the relationship and then it would be great. Don't want my friends to sitt around being lonely. I guess it would be less fun to get that banter if you are romancing either of them, but as long as I know it's not supposed to happen it's ok. Hope they fix it =)

Does anyone know if Isabela reacts to you killing Fenris at the end of Act 3 if the both of them are together?

Since Varric and Isabela don't react after killing Merril, I wouldn't be optimistic.

That banter was only intended to come up if you turned down both Isabela and Fenris.

As in, Isabela offers to sleep with you, and you said no. And then Fenris offers to sleep with you, and you say no. In this case, they would hook up in Act 3. This was the intention when it was written.

Looking at the scripting, however, it seems that it is checking to see if the Isabela and Fenris romances are ended. Which means you may have slept with them, but then agreed to "not bring feelings into it", thereby breaking off your romantic engagement.

So it sounds like if this banter is coming up in Act 3, then Fenris/Isabela are operating under the assumption that you are no longer in a romance.

Umm I had the same weirdness in Legacy during Act 3, Isabela and Fenris talking about their friends with benefits relationship, and I was in a romance with Fenris. I was not a happy Hawke. I came back, did Alone, and the romance worked as normal.
I don't mind party members having relationships, and could really see Varric and Merrill together, but my Hawke is a jealous type...Isabela slap!

Hopefully a screwed up flag?

Why not? If Hawke has someone else, why shouldn't the non occupied companions form their own relationships amongst each other? Fenris and isabella seem a good match anyway.

This relationship was always a bit ambiguous with Fenris after that one night together because he keeps maintaining that it is over to other people (we were on a break), but has puppy eyes for me, wears that scarf on his wrist and emblem on his bag. First time through I had to wait almost to the end of Act 3 before he finally saw sense and admitted his feelings for me - though it made sense because that Hawke was a mage, which is why she was prepared to be patient with him - she appreciates why her status might make it extra difficult for him to reconcile his feelings. May be he sleeps with Isabella to see if he does get all the bad memory stuff and when he finds he can have sex and no issues, that is why he keeps it going but then realises it is Hawke he can't live without. Mind you it has never happened to me - does it make a difference if he is in a friend or rival relationship with Hawke as I have not yet romanced him as a rival, only a friend.

If you're in a romance with one of them the banter shouldn't occur. So you probably have a screwed up romance flag.
