17 days out, and no patches for the most egregious bugs.

But as for the bugs, It's almost as if the game wasn't played by the testers before release.
(numerous follower-related-bugs, and others.)
Very strange and disapointing Indeed.
Edit: if i'm not wrong, most of those arn't platform specific.(Merril infamos bug, and so on.)

Well they need to step it up, there are quite a few bugs and squashing at least a few of them in a patch would be nice.

I only noticed one bug my first time through (the bandit standing there doing nothing on a minor side quest). I was pleased with how smoothly the game ran, with short load times, compared to DAO. I think Bioware did a great job.

Game released-- Nov. 3, 2009 (North America)
3 days after launch -- first minor technical patch 1.01. It had it's own flaws, and was fixed and released as 1.01b about 14 days after launch.
34 days after launch -- patch 1.02, which contained the first substantial plot corrections. It too was bugged and had to be re-released as patch 1.02a about 48 days after launch.
Patch 1.03 didn't come until March, 2010, and 1.04 didn't hit until July.
And since, I think most (especially those who've played Awakening) would agree that *another* patch is still needed.... well... I encourage Bioware/EA to take its time and do it right, and completely, with DA2.

As an overall concept it makes since, but given the evidence we've had about the quick turn-around between DAO and DA2... I am frankly surprised there aren't *more* bugs... at least from a plot standpoint.
Playing through 56 hours of the game on PC, I encountered only one major quest bug and one major companion-oriented bug. It didn't crash once. No DLC unauthorized crap either. Frankly, I was stunned. Gobsmacked.
Yes, ideally all games should be flawless, or nearly so, upon launch. But I've never seen one.

That's what I thought after my first play-though, but then I came on these forums and found a few things happened that shouldn't have and a few things that should've happened; didn't. Anticipating the next patch so I can make another character, but with Arrival so close I'm in no immediate hurry.wintermonk wrote...

It's more like people are angry that the game shipped with this many bugs in the first place. That's how I feel about it, at least. Patches taking a while to come out just adds insult to injury. If the game had been released at a reasonable level of quality, with bugs being few in number and relatively minor in their frequency/consequences, I wouldn't mind waiting a while for a patch. But, that's not the case here.

Just because you didn't encounter these bugs personally doesn't mean that they aren't cause for concern. I only encountered one bug myself and it wasn't too significant (Merrill dialogue bug, I didn't even realize it was bugged until after I beat the game), but after coming on the forums and seeing how many people have lost playthroughs to the Isabela/Sebastian bug, among the plethora of other things that don't work right, I'm still not happy about the condition DA2 was released in. Any one of those people who can't play their chars because of that friendship bug could've just as easily been me.

If DA:O is any indication, the QA team for the Dragon Age projects are either under-funded/under-staffed or not that good at QA.

- The patch they are working on will contain MANY fixes (i.e., bigger than the first PC patch)
- The patch will not be released this week
It's not much, but it's more than we've been getting, so at least some progress (at least from a relative standpoint) on the communication front.

Yes people are getting "spoiled" because they paid 60.00 for a game that doesn't work right (particularly in terms of the storytelling) and they want it fixed...the AUDACITY...you and I have different definitions of "spoiled"...

Excellent news. Thanks for sharing! It is tempting to assume that they're addressing not just glitches but also issues of balance and performance. And of course, since a comprehenisive patch will have to include multiple platforms, a little more of a wait seems reasonable to me.

Couldn't agree more. And it's funny that how strict deadlines were given to download the patch to get bonus items, to pre-order SE and so on... Now we don't even have an ETA for the patch...

[[EDIT]]
I havn't noticed any bugs in companion quests at all, however, I never finished all the companion quests. I eneded up running Isibela off before hers really came up, never got the opertunity to do the last part of Fenris', but other than that I THINK I did them all with no problems. PS3 FTW?

well then at the very least you did not do the Merril romance and quests and you did not do the who needs rescuing quest" and you haven't had both Sebastion and Isabella in your party...
