So, 20 days after release, how are you guys enjoying the game and all its wonderful patches?

Not going to lie, I'm pretty tired of paying to be a beta tester for games (not just BW games) these days. It is completely unacceptable that anyone would release a game with game-breaking bugs. I mean, if the DA2 QA simply PLAYED the game from start to finish they would have caught at least half if not more of the current bugs out there.

Some things in Dragon Age 2 are a matter of preference, but REASONABLY bug-free game-play on all supported systems is not one of them. Bioware has zero excuse for this, and no one should defend them.

The PC version has been patched twice already. We are still working on more patches for all platforms and, when we have more information about what will be fixed and when it will be available, we will let everyoen know.

Releasing the same patch in beta form then "official" form does not qualify as twice.

I'm having an awesome time, I had totally forgotten what fun it was playing a low intelligence character with Virgil... oh, you mean Dragon Age 2? I, er, reinstalled Arcanum last week and haven't really touched DA2 since then.

I love that they haven't even given PC players a beta-patch for Merrills quest bug, or simple bugs like Isabela going with you as if you romanced her despite you having a romance with Merrill, or probably any one else.

Simple, but game/story destroying bugs ~ and nothing. & for PC they can't complain about time, and most of us would be happy with simple beta patches, and even do part of their QA for them, something they obviously didn't do. (and yes they did the 1.01, even as a beta, but why not continue with that?).

A microcosm of Dragon Age 2's microcosm. Misdirection and half-truths.

Don't keep your hopes up. I suggest... move on and play other games for now. Also, ME2: Arrival will be launched tomorrow.

Patience, children. This happens with every game, especially on consoles. I typically don't buy console games until a month after they've released. Yes, ideally these things are all caught before hand, but the reality is much different. It is hard to believe how some of these bugs (mainly the Merrill quest bug) got by, but I've seen much worse. Bioware should do a better job, but you can also say the same thing about almost game studio out there.

to be honest, I think people are getting a little impatient and spoiled. they want things NOW! What? 17 days and still no patch?!

Yes people are getting "spoiled" because they paid 60.00 for a game that doesn't work right (particularly in terms of the storytelling)  and they want it fixed...the AUDACITY...you and I have different definitions of  "spoiled"...

considering that most of the people playing da2 are part of the "me" generation, i'm not surprised your definition differs from someone else with a more patient demeanor.

This does not make it right and accepting it simply is not the answer I would suggest.

Wanting a product you paid for to work without fault as soon as possible has nothing to do with being spoiled or about "me me me". It has to do with logic and common sense. It isn't spoiled to want something you paid for to work. It isn't about what generation you came from either as all my faimly and friends would want the same and we are various generations.

Its about valuing your money and knowing that you deserve what you paid for, instead of something broken. If you bought a TV and it broke within the first two days of watching it and the company told you to wait they have a fix coming along. Would you sit patientaly for a month or more? Or would you want your TV fixed as soon as possible? What if it was your car? Your bank account?

The only difference generations will make here is what you value computer games at.

Typically, you would send your TV for repairs. How long that takes would depend on exactly what's wrong. Could take a few days. Could take several weeks. If it takes too long, you can always return it and get your money back, too, and buy a TV at some other store.

Would it be annoying to go without a TV for several weeks? Yeah. Doesn't change the fact that that's how it works.

i don't think that patience is whats needed here. obviously bioware is capable of shipping a product out without this many bugs. i understand a few bugs but really? so many game altering bugs is unacceptable. when you can't play the game the way its meant to, it is broken and should not be shipped out. i'm getting really worried about this trend. new vegas did it now da2, i mean whats up? they know they're going to get their money so why not push the game back a little longer? gonna trade mine in and wait til more downloadable content comes out or an ultimate edition. at this point not worth it.

And I wouldn't suggest balming ioware as if they chose to release it like this.  The deadline was probably set by some idiot suit trying to call the shots without knowing the shots to call.  Likely as not, whoever made that call does not have experience with this type of game and decided that it should fit within the same timelines as other games, while we all know RPG's need extra time.

Which might be why we don't see so many any more - higher investment for less return.  Wonder what people would think of paying more for the game in exchange for the longer window...  Don't imagine a lot of people would understand the reasons for it.  Which is probably part of why DLC becomes such a major thing.

It took Mass Effect 2's patch come out for awhile. I'm sure it'll take just as long for DA2.

Yeah it's pretty annoying. It's been like this for awhile though, to the point that people are actually justifying it when people complain. So when people complain about getting buggy games, fans just say, "Well you shouldn't have bought the game at release if you didn't want a buggy game. They're all like that. You should've waited 3-6 months before buying it."

I'm pretty sure if  the majority of gamers waited 3-6 months before buying new games, the gaming industry would collapse on itself. People have a right to play finished and bug free games.

There probably needs to be some kind of regulation on the software industry to protect consumers, and so we don't get broken, unfinished software for full price.

First play through the only major bugs I had were Merril's 3rd act quest going out of order and the side quest in the Wounded Coasts not working (both confirmed bugs).

Second playthough Isabella won't let me into the Chantry so I can't recruit her (also confirmed). Since everyone who plays gets the first play through bugs I had, it is sort of a wonder that they made it into release. Another wonder they aren't patched at this point. Sloppy.

I have the steam version and besides the initial horrible performance when i first started playing which was worked around by Nvidia's latest beta drivers, I encountered hardly any major bugs. Still, with as many bugs as people are saying Bioware should be a bit more on the ball with patching the game. They were very good with Origins in that regard.
