This is what I have to say regarding the romance fiasco in Dragon Age 2:
You know whats real funny about all this? If Bioware simply stuck to the tried and true method of having a TRADITIONAL relationship in this game that we all know and love (i.e. Male/Female romance only) none of this would be an issue. Sure, maybe a few gays out there would protest, but it wouldnt be like it is now. People are used to gays not being the central focus so if Dragon Age 2 only had the traditional male and female relationship there wouldnt be the huuuuge gigantic issue that Dragon Age has turned into regarding romance options. I mean really, who would complain that your male character got to romance only a female character in the game? No one! Its what we're used to seeing! Looks like Bioware shot themselves in the foot trying to pander to the gay crowd and by being lazy and making EVERY CHARACTER in DA2 bi sexual to "please evreyone". In the future, to avoid any potential issues, they should stick to only having male/female relationships in their games. i heard only like 3% of the population was gay anyhow. i dunno but it is low compared to the overall. This whole thing has gotten Bioware nothing but grief from both orientation's so what does that tell you Bioware? hmmmm? Either way you choose you will upset someone so i suggest you go it the old fashioned way: male/female only. its what we're used to, and nobody complains(well mostly anyhows) and that means less stress for you.
I think you should read David Gaider's respone one more time perhaps.

You even interested in trying not to sound like an ignorant bigot?
Nearly every one of your "facts" are wrong.

Rather easy, I should think.

-Just so you know, homsexuality is not something new. It's been here always. The only tradition is exclusion and even though you might disagree that's something that need to be eradicated.
-Gays werent the ones who originated all this issue but one minority of straight guys. How do you think it makes me feel that something as harmless as two lines of a gay NPC to the player can cause that trouble? Gays goal is not to be the center of attention, just THE OPPOSITE, being able to do normal things without anyone making a fuss over it.
-I agree no one would have complained. but that only means that we are already used to just being ignored. That doesnt mean we wouldnt like to ba taken into account.
-China's population is nearly a 20% of world population, Indian's is nearly the 18%. When was the last time you see a npc that looked chinese or indian? This is not about percentages but culture. (Also not sure if that percentage of yours is correct)
-While that "old fashioned way" remains, equality wont be possible. But if you think minorties shouldnt be equal, then that's another issue.

I dont explain myself too well so I just suggest this too. That response addresses everything you say in your post.

If BioWare had only straight relationships in the next Dragon Age game, I would complain a great deal, and I somehow doubt I'm the only one. (I am, for the record, heterosexual.)

I would say "Please, shut up. We shall not discuss this any further!" That is my right as Head of the Household.

Cool, I will have to read it. Rules to understand Swedish.
I hope they mentioned some people want "chose your sexuality" button to RPGs.
Edit: Lol I saw it didn't quite made to the frontpage even on internetz version. So I wont check it. Too much work to search for it.

iirc they mentioned it but didn't particularly discuss it. It's written from the perspective that DA2 took the absolute right path, no questions asked =)
What was that path?

Granted, it's been a while since I last read something by Holmgren, but it seems like Aftonbladet has had an adverse effect on his writing.

Well, I think the article was rather oddly written. A bit of a mess to separate Bastal's opinion from other elements.

Thanks, was not very impressed of the article. But they have a lot of work to do very quicly.
Now I expect it will be on Finnish Newspapers tomorrow since we do everything after Swedes.

Ah, well that's how it works in your household, I see. That's fair enough.
However, I wasn't really thinking of a situation where a hierarchy was enforced by predefined gender roles. Then again, it was just a joke in the first place.

That was the most interesting part of the article.
I think the discussion was 10 times more intelligent than in here. But that does not come as a surprise since Swedish people are famous in Finland for being able to actually discuss things. That and it was Major Swedish magazine and not BW forums.

Maybe if they tried being a woman when men come onto us all the time, if we complained as much you guys are now, nothing would ever get done.
Anders does exactly the same thing to female hawkes but then perhaps women are more accustomed to having to reject men's advances on a daily basis, so we don't complain and have to get use to guys acting like jerks when we dont want to date them.
Also I don't see gay female players complaning about Anders coming onto them even if he is not their sexual preference.

There IS a lot less trolling and hating...
Well, it's my general experience that people here in the Nordic countries are less aggressive in their discussions. Or maybe the people who aren't don't spend as much time on the internet.
That's just my opinion of course, and I'm not saying that other people can't be just as civil.
EDIT: And I agree, the article itself isn't much...
