They're using this homosexuality issue to generate cheap buzz about the game.

To have the otherwise believable character of Anders suddenly sleaze up to Hawke mid quest was a bit jarring but this was a minor irritation at most.

Why don't we all just take a deep breath and 'contemplate the existential terror of a Bioware romance'.

Sorry if I have gotten this wrong, this is not only driven by complaints due to cutting back on each PC's personality but by men having another man come onto them.

Maybe if they tried being a woman when men come onto us all the time, if we complained as much you guys are now, nothing would ever get done.

Anders does exactly the same thing to female hawkes but then perhaps women are more accustomed to having to reject men's advances on a daily basis, so we don't complain and have to get use to guys acting like jerks when we dont want to date them.

Also I don't see gay female players complaning about Anders coming onto them even if he is not their sexual preference.

You made interesting points.

But gays can't complain of anything. They can only be happy they have some crap game which have homosexuality.

I think that too. The game flopped and now it need to be buzzed. However I expect it to fail since gay community already knows of the game and have probably pre-ordered it and the rest are "sup gay sex lol so what?"

Thank you, I can understand in a way where people are coming from but I just didnt care when it happened to me as a female player, women have to put up with alot in scenarios such as stated.
It does annoy me when people complain about something so small and insignificant.

I can see where Bioware were going and I applaud them but sadly not everyone agrees.

Why I should applaud? There is nothing ground breaking for me. The game is just vanilla boring PEGI 13 pretending to be PEGI 18 with extra bad combat and UI. DA:O did things much better. I could go to brothel and be amused services there. In DA2 I get a screen blackout after talking to an elf.

And I see no reason why gays should have some kind of privilege to be included in movies, books, or games, except of course the "chose your sexuality" button.

You have two girls to romance as a man in DA2 just like you did in DAO, what's the issue, really?

Do you think they are important for me? Lol. I could give them away anytime and get tolerable combat and beliavable chantry/templars/world. Would not care if every companion would be gay male.

It is you who have some kind of issue with straight males you can't silence by yelling homopbobe, I think. That I have seen a lot here anyway.

You know whats real funny about all this? If Bioware simply stuck to the tried and true method of having a TRADITIONAL relationship in this game that we all know and love (i.e. Male/Female romance only) none of this would be an issue.

Uh, they have a bunch of those.  If you play a female character and romance one of the males, or vice versa, then that's a male/female romance.

Sure, maybe a few gays out there would protest, but it wouldnt be like it is now. People are used to gays not being the central focus so if Dragon Age 2 only had the traditional male and female relationship there wouldnt be the huuuuge gigantic issue that Dragon Age has turned into regarding romance options.

There is no huge issue.  There's a few homophobes freaking out and everyone else laughing at them.

I mean really, who would complain that your male character got to romance only a female character in the game?

A lot of people would if only a female character were an option.

No one! Its what we're used to seeing! Looks like Bioware shot themselves in the foot trying to pander to the gay crowd and by being lazy and making EVERY CHARACTER in DA2 bi sexual to "please evreyone". In the future, to avoid any potential issues, they should stick to only having male/female relationships in their games. i heard only like 3% of the population was gay anyhow. i dunno but it is low compared to the overall.

As noted, there's no evidence that there's any bisexual characters; the game world is different for different starting player characters.

Listen to companion A (M) / compagnion B (F) when not romance they are not the same sex and are romancing each other and more... A Male Hawk would be able to romance companion A (M) so basicly they are ni.

Even so : if they are not all bi. They are all gay.... thats not better what's the probability that 3/4 of my team are gay/bi ? Seriously....

What is the probability of a group of refugees making it out of a Darkspawn infested area? What is the probability of them becoming prominent citizens in their destination? I could go on forever.

Some people overthink this whole issue far too much.

It's really quite simple: by implementing romances in this way, BW have ensured that the maximum amount of content is available to the maximum amount of people for relatively little cost (since, like it or not, cost is a factor). Straight Hawkes have a choice of who to romance (as they did in DAO). Gay Hawkes have a choice of who to romance (this has never happened before). Bisexual Hawkes have a choice of who to romance (as they did in DAO). Pretty awesome, right?

Now every player and every Hawke has a choice. It's such a shame that there are some people out there who don't believe everyone deserves a choice.

100% Denying choice doesn't help anyone. If the world is ever going to get over the beef it has with 'anyone' that is different, then we have to start somewhere. Why not in a simple, small way in a game? That truthfully does not hurt anyone or anything except for a few peoples sense of entitlement.

Bravo for calling people out on their privelege, it needs to be said and repeated often if anything is ever going to happen. 100% support for Bioware in all their future projects, whichever way the wind blows.

Seems that this thread has officially been transformed into full Herpy Derpy -mode. I'd add something meaningful but people are just beginning from the start if they run out of subjects anyway.

No, they're only bi if male Hawke romances them.

You don't get it.  They don't have an objectively real sexual orientation which exists regardless of what the player does.  What they have is whatever sexual orientation leads to the story the player wants to tell.

This is like claiming that Hawke is intersexed because Hawke can be either male or female.  No, once you pick one, Hawke is male or female, but not both.  The characters are defined (in part) by your choices.

Choice is good.. but i find myself repeating myself.. If BW had made it so the initial start to romance was initated by the player and not by the companion thier would not have been that uncomfortable moment to be had but like it or not they chose to make the companion start the dialoge, we live in a world where homosexuality is openly accepted/tolerated in most countries but where many people feel discomfort when it is directed at them personaly so just a couple of sentances is enough to bring up the feeling of awkwardness/discomfort and for some, revulsion (not a good thing to have when you purchase a game for fun and entertainment).
I am all for same sex relations in games when its handled in a responsible nature to all possible customers and to be honest this game didnt do that
