When did you choose to be heterosexual then?

You don't choose it, you are heterosexual from birth.

I am not homophobic though, 96% of the people here (including Bioware) use the term in the wrong way. Homophobic refers to irrational fear towards homosexual groups / individuals, but if someone has an aversion towards homosexual people because of e.g. religious belief, that person cannot be homophobic as it's not irrational.

Regrettably, you're wrong; the etymology of the word is a little weird, but it most definitely covers this "aversion."
And I've never seen any hint of heterophobia displayed here.

How do animals choose homosexuality then?

Fixed that a bit for you.

I spot "******" = human and "phobia" = fear :)

It certainly includes that aversion, but it's not an irrational aversion.

The meaning of the word has changed from its direct roots. I'm reasonably sure that you're homophobic.
Whether it's rational or not... well, I suppose you think it is. Perhaps 'tis enough for you.

As far as I know, animals also require a parther of the different gender to reproduce themselves.

First of all, there is nothing remotely 'rational' about religious beliefs of any kind, and second of all—oh, what's the point...

How is that relevant at all? Homosexuality has been observed in many species.

How do animals choose?

Hell, with Anders they even change his relationship with someone else based on your sex. If you want characters to be bisexual, that's perfectly fine, but then WRITE THEM AS BISEXUALS. Don't just force them to be arbitrarily interested in whatever particular set of junk Hawke happened to be born with.

Sorry either you've come to the wrong conclusion on your own or you've been misinformed.  They are all bisexual and always have been proof by  Word of Gaider

Hey, great. Now can you show me where any proof of this actually exists in the game?  Did Anders' previous relationship with Karl change based on what sex you play as, or did I imagine that?

And yet homosexual behavior is observed in the animal kingdom, across a wide spectrum of species. Giraffes are especially known for it. Naturally, not all giraffes engage in exclusively homosexual behavior, so we still get baby giraffes.

So how about we just call it phalluphobic then? Since most "homophobic" men aren't disgusted by lesbians...

By nature. While homosexuality does occur among animals, it only does when there are enough heterosexual animals around.

I don't care for what people call me though, especially when they misuse terms...following by some people's logic, you'd be phobic of everything in the world.

The fact that you reject any disagreement that any heterosexual have about homosexuality and try
to use the "Homophobic" card is a good sign that you're Heterophobic.

In order to for both parties to understand each other a little better and develop a general consentious
of respect is to first stop to try to force the other one to accept you else we gonna be in for a long night... if not everlasting.

And why can't humans have it "by nature" then? Why would a person choose to be something that is so hated in society?

Should infertile and abusive people allowed to be married? Is an abusive parent better than a gay parent?

I want to get this thread closed. This is way too off-topic now.

Nature shows us the answer: if everyone was homosexual, we'd be extinct by now. And yes, debates with heterophobics are just as productive as debates between religious and non-religious people ;)

Ridiculous. I have no aversion to heterosexuals or their romances existing whatsoever.

Everyone can't be homosexual. It is impossible. Heterosexuals will always outnumber homosexuals.

But using that "logic" to think of homosexuals as overall lesser is a fallacy.

I don't think starting an attack on religious and/or spiritual beliefs (of all spectrums, including atheism) as being irrational is really anymore appropriate them comments directed at a person's sexuality as being 'irrational'.  They are both negative and potential hateful comments, and I don't think it really improves your postion to bring in a wide spectrum of people in the world (the majority if you are going to state religious beliefs as a general statement) and call them irrational.

I'm not saying this to get at you, I just don't it it really helps or has anything to add to this discussion at all, and isn't really a fair thing to say about allot of people who hold various kinds of spiritual views

When Anders hit on my Lady Hawke, I was fine with it. Because I wasn't interested in that kind of relationship, I picked the broken heart option.

OH GOD THE RATIONALITY, IT BURNS.

Did I ever say such a thing? As stated above, I don't hate homosexuals at all. I just do not like them as much as others, same as I do not like people with certain religions or you do not like certain people for other reasons...unless you like everyone. And that would be weird.

(btw, that avatar is from TRHPS, right?)

While animals do show homosexual behaviour, they do not have a homosexual orientation. By their reproductive instict, they are always attracted to an animal with the opposite sex.

I asked for your sources, that homosexuality is a choice.
