I have to agree that having every character romancable is lazy character development. It's not a gay/bi-sexual issue, it's simply pure lack of character depth and development, period.
Your character has the ability to steer clear of bi-sexual or gay activity when an NPC hints at interest, but the NPC doesn't have the same ability when you hint that you are interested, really? Why? Because as the player you should ALWAYS get what you want? It's this me-centric mentality that drives me crazy, trying to cater to everyone's whims so that you don't 'discriminate' or are not viewed as discriminating, always protecting yourself so you don't have to defend what you think, believe, or the product you've created is just assinine. Giving everyone the EXACT same opportunity is not even feasible.
I don't care how great of a guy Anders is, I'm not interested in him. And it should apply to NPC's as well, if I'm just not Isabella's type, because she prefers the ladies, then I should have no shot with her.
That's my .02.
Your post is a perfect example of stupidity masquerading as intelligence thanks to the rules of grammar. Making characters romanceable involves more work so it can't be lazy to do so. The NPC is totally scripted. I'll let you figure out what that means.
So you are saying that because the characters are romanceable, that it couldn't have been lazy because someone had to work on the scripting. I give you that, whether it's the exact same scripting as in DAO, a modified version, or a completely new version, yes someone did the work. And I'm sure it took time to accomplish.
I don't recall attacking any employees work ethic, or saying that the employees actions, in themselves were lazy. Did I even hint that the NPC's weren't scripted?
I guess I should have worded it differently so that you understood that in my opinion they weren't scripted well. It seems to me that if you are able to romance practically any character that all they had to do was 'cut and paste' if you will. And that, in my opinion, they did not develop the romances thoroughly and give the NPC some say in their preference(s).
