The sad thing about this is the still obvious homophobia. And in this day and age... *shakes head sadly*

If your main Hawke is a female, every one will want to romance her, if your main Hawke is male, everyone will want to romance him. The NPCs are Hawke-sexual (thanks to a bioware forumite for this definition), not bi, straight or gay.
This is not true. I've been forced into bed with Merril without ever having using the 'heart' dialogue options. She just barged into my mansion and I tried to talk her out of it. But I never take the 'A-hole' dialogue options, they just don't fit me. And guess what? Now she lives with me.

Both ways are easily accommodated for but people seem to want one or the other!
Surely you can see the difference between the two? One promotes inclusivity, the other exclusivity. Besides, it's been stated before that quite a number of us respect that you're not comfortable with it. It's understandable. But to promote exclusivity because of it is another matter entirely.

She only lives with you if you select the option to further the romance, and that option is quite clear even paraphrased on the wheel. And I'm pretty sure you have to select a romance response with her several times at key points to romance her. So I think you're spouting hyperbole as fact.

Guilty as charged I prefer not to see it but then again I also prefer hetro's to do it where I cant see it, for me and I mean no offense I tolerate the issue and care not what others are doing behind closed doors. I have grown up in a world where the gay community was pretty much unheard of in first 20 years as the next 20 years progressed they are very much moved to the frontlines I regard myself as being fairly open minded but am aware I have old school tendancies to relationships and such, Maybe its part ignorance on my part but I find younger members of the community are quick to label a person homophobic if they so much as speak against same sex relations, (ugg derailing my own reply) so sure have the option for the relationships in game by all means but thats what it should be optional If I don't wish to encounter it then that should also be an option.Shawn Ogg wrote...
No one seems to complain about Isabella making the first move. I rly think it just sad the attitude many guys have "Yes, yes, everyone is equal and all that stuff, do whatever you want.... just dont do it where I can see it". It seems gays have to be careful 24/7 with everything they do in case it could offense someone, but the thing is that most of these thing that are considered offenses are things that heresoxuals do on a normal basis and no one think of it as offensive. Its just sad.

Ever seen the other option? You can either romance her, be nice which comes down to the same thing and she still moved in. Or the 'A-hole' option, which I would never pick. But that's beside the point... Why did she barge into my mansion? I never - not once - led her to believe I was interested. Yet the conversation led me to believe I did.

Then you got a glitch. The game is set up in such a way that if you don't start a romance or respond to an interested suitor that you're up for the sexy time then it won't happen.

The only fair way to implement a "no homosexulaity" option in the game is if they also included a "no heterosexuality" option. Regardlesss, it's still a stupid idea that promotes intolerance.
It just all seems a bit silly to me. I don't want heterosexuals to disappear suddenly. Sure, I won't pursue a heterosexual romance option if there's an enjoyable lesbian one there, but I can select to turn people down, just as I'll turn down an interested female character if I don't happen to find them appealing. I don't understand why that's not enough for other people as well.

That's acceptable, I suppose, even though I get tired of having to be the aggressor in my romance options sometimes. It would be nice to have interest shown in me first. But, if that's the only way to have everyone happy, then I can accept it. Although, I'm sure there will be people who still complain at it being in the game. I just wish there wasn't even a need for this kind of discussion any more.

I understand you. One cant just ditch all his education and wake up one morning with a totally different point of view. But the thing is the while that kind of "education" remains equality wont be possible. Sure making that change on the game would solve any problem right now. But then Would it be necesary to do the same on the next game? and the game after this? the next film/tv show... ? Do you see my point ?

I think that people who want a "no gay" option should really be asking for a option when creating a character that allows you to choose to be straight, gay/lesbian, bi, or have no preferences. In this way, a straight character would get absolutely no scenes of a male hitting on them, and likewise, a gay characer wouldn't have a female hitting on them. Personally, I think this is a waste of developmental time, resources, and energy, but it can mitigate the backlash of things such as Anders hitting on a male character or whatever else might bother a player about their sexual orienation.
And what´s the next step?
Racists demanding a "NO BLACKS" option that turns all dark-skinned NPCs into whites?
N@zis demanding a "HITLER-" option that gives every NPC in a leader role a nice little mustache and changes greetings into the good old "HEIL...!"?
Sexists demanding an option to remove all strong women from the game, only leaving slaves, servants, prostitutes, housewifes and other "appropriate" roles represented in the game?
Where will you draw the line?!
Please consider this when demanding such things.

It's the awesomeness of the Hawke beard (even if you drop it from your Hawke, Varric has clearly added it back in the tales he tells Merrill). She can't resist the Epic Beard, and who can blame her?
That or it's a glitche, I prefer the first reason though

Oh come on that is such an absurd comparison and you know it. Simply presenting the option for everyone to choose one's sexual preferences during character creation would not be like having a "no black people" option. The option would obviously be open to everyone so if you didn't want any standard heterosexual flirting going on you could turn that option off as well. Everyone wins.

So you're suggesting a sexuality slider, such as a skin tone slider? I guess that would work. But that has a lot more impact than customising the looks of a character ever will and I don't think we're likely to see that implemented any time soon.
