Well, since people seem to be doing this a lot, I figured I'd hop on the bandwagon and give my impression of DA 2
Firstly, I've been a huge fan of Bioware since BG2, and this game has not done anything to change that. I won't bore you guys with a long winded list of pros and cons, so I'll do this instead

DA 2 as a delicious meal!
So the prologue; that's like the bag of cheezits you find under your car seat to hold you over till you get to the restaurant, as well as waiting for your table/ordering; bland, a bit unpleasant, but ultimately necessary.

Act 1: Is the appetizer at a TGI Friday’s; a little boring, but still full of tasty stuff and enjoyable.

Act 2: Is whatever dish you most enjoy eating, eaten slowly and lovingly. The pacing is great, and you can really see the tension building between the two factions as it goes on and on to a rather well thought out and in my opinion intense finish.

Act 3: After enjoying Act 2, I found that the restaurant had fired their pastry chef in lieu of a blender. It seriously feels like somebody took all the elements of a pie, threw them in the oven for 5 minutes, and then force fed them to me. The elements of an amazing finish are all there; it just feels like the prep time wasn’t put in to it. I’m not sure if it feels rushed cause of a deadline, but the ending just felt like it all came crashing down.

That analogy aside, I loved the fact that the characters were actually heavily involved in the main storyline; Isabella with the Tome, Varric and his brother leading the expedition, Anders doing… whatever it is exactly he does at the end there. It was nice to see them as people with their own agendas.
And don’t get me wrong, I love the party members in DAO, it just felt like their soul purpose in life was to help the Warden out. In DA 2, however, you see them becoming friends outside of the party and get the feeling like they have their own lives (and are therefore invested in Kirkwall as a whole, beyond simply working for the champion.)

I would have liked to have seen a bit more build up with Anders and his whole vengeance crazed thing, rather than just being informed “oh no, I‘m falling off the vengeance wagon again!” but again, stellar job with the characters.

If I had to give it a rating, I’d say 8.5/10
