I have been trying without success even with suggestions from the live chat help to activate my DA2 player profile.

I have tried everything from clearing temp files, trying via IE and firefox, clearing my java cache and any number of other things to activate my player profiles for DA2. When I click the link it simply refreshes the page.

Whats weird is this is what my profile page looks like:

Games Registered to Kyriani Agrivar

../../../images/icons/bw_games/dragonage2_16.png
Dragon Age II - PC
../../../images/icons/bw_games/dragonage2_16.png Dragon Age II - Player Profiles(Activate Online Profiles)

../../../images/icons/bw_games/dragonage16.png Dragon Age: Origins - Player Profiles

Dragon Age Origins - PC (sync my profile)

Dragon Age Origins - Xbox 360 (sync my profile)

Dragon Age Origins - PS3 (sync my profile)
Clicking the activate online profiles link just refreshes the page. I am not sure why I am seeing any mention of DA:O because I don't have DA:O on this account. Is it possible the website is bugged somehow or bugged somehow just for me? I'd like to have my game data uploaded. I just don't know what else to try since it seems like it's something on their end not mine.

There is an option in the game under Options > Account > Upload character profile - make sure this is checked. You also have to be logged in while making a save for it to upload anything.

I have that checked and I have been logged in while trying to click the link with no results... the page just refreshes itself

if there's any other suggestions I'm open to them... failing that an email address to the site admin would allow me to request they activate it for me on their end?

STEP 1

run>Cmd

Ipconfig /flushdns
Ipconfig /registerdns

Then go back to that webpage and click "Activate Online Profiles"

STEP 2

If above doesn't  work then go into

C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc
Open the hosts file there with notepad.

Then you should have only 2 lines of code in there like this:
127.0.0.1       localhost
::1             localhost

You'll want to Add a 3rd now making the file look like this...

127.0.0.1       localhost
::1             localhost
159.153.235.22       gosredirector.ea.com

After this step repeat STEP 1 again.

@luke, if the profile updater uses  gosredirector.ea.com at all...the DNS for it can't be resolved. SO host have to be edited to know that gosredirector.ea.com is 159.153.235.22. Assuming the first step doesn't work stand-alone.

Not for nothing... and please let me thank you right now Lacan82 for making an effort to help me... but that sounds so invasive... is it supposed to be this difficult to simply upload my data to the site?

I'll try your suggestions though... but I truly think the customer shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops to get a feature to work =\\

well if it does use gosredirector.ea.com it won't be simple just because of the fact that DNS resolution doesn't work.

I had to do the above to get it to work. I just don't know if Step 1 fixed it stand alone or if it was combination of both steps.

Ok I tried the above suggestion with no results at all... If there's an email to send my problem to whoever handles the website admin that would be great...

Guys and Gals.

Think I found the solution. At least it's source of my problems with my profiles not being created and updated on my bioware social profile page.

I use a shortcut to the .exe with -devel...consoleblahdiblah.

Starting the game through this shortcut and my profile is never updated eventhough I'm logging in when the game starts.

However.. If I use the official launcher and click "Play" my profile is updated (although most of the info is still old, like items I'm wearing) it does update my achievements and level/xp for my char.

I tested this a few times and it's quite consistent, using the launchar does update the site while using a shortcut (with or without the -enabledeveloperconsole in the targetline) to the main DragonAge2.exe doesn't update the site at all.

Could some of you test this please?

Hope it helps!

Hmm it seems using the launcher worked! huzzah! so using a shortcut that enables the console = no updates good to know!

I've tried both solutions suggested by Lacan82 and Tricky4u without any change.

:(

Still won't activate the online profile.

Still won't activate the online profile.

What I did was just run the game from the DragonAge2Launcher.exe, then task switch back back to the web browser and clicked on the "Activate Online Profile" which then brought up the PC/Mac link. Once you've done that, you may have to load your last save and then re-save your game again to get it to start up the transfer process.

And it takes time too... I've noticed it can take hours to update.
