It's not the statement itself, rather, the tone in which he delivers that line. I know it's subjective and you can perceive it however you like, but when you listen to it closely, Anders sounds like he's flirting with Nathaniel. Awakening isn't concrete and irrefutable proof of his heterosexuality, mind you. He could've easily been someone who had an attraction to other men, but hadn't embraced that part of him yet. To be honest, his incessant declaration of love for the ladies felt more like a lighthearted way to deflect some underlying psychological damage than anything.
So no, I don't think his sexuality was retconned at all. DA2 only shows what's most likely always been there.

Nope, he's actually much more receptive and elated to be with a male Hawke. The doomsaying only starts to seep in during Act 3.
