Overall from what I've read this appears to be a majorly missed opportunity and more of an Assignment rather than a Mission (as Overlord was). Pretty disappointed but at least my expectations have been sufficiently lowered.

it sounds like ign played a better version honestly. and i know everyone is concerned but for all we know this site can be a big fan of call of duty so there article could be just a hate write

How will this work if you can do it before the suicide mission? It doesn't make sense. Goddamn it!

Actually, the word "destroy" is used by IGN, so I don't think they are using the asteroid to change the Mass Relay's location. But, since we have only IGN's word, it could be misinterpretation.

If it isn't a recton, then the doctor is really stupid.

This is IGN we're talking about though, from my experiances they aren't the most reliable site on the internet.

The dude only played through one flipping mission. ONE MISSION. And all of a sudden he's making claims that the VS isn't in the DLC? Unless BioWare specifically told him, "Ashley and Kaidan aren't in here," then that could be considered concrete. But he's only played the one mission, and the rest of what he knows, he tells us second-hand. He says, "I was told there were five missions." Ergo, he hasn't played through them. I certainly hope there's a few more surprises.

I don't mean to sound snarky, but I am really trying to believe my own words right now. This DLC is everything that VS fans have wanted, and we have no idea if the main people we desired are even in it.

Just face it Bioware dont give a damn about VS :pinched:

It's actually not solo after all. Kenson is an actual temp party member. At least that's what it looks like.

As this can be done halfway through ME2 it's pretty safe to say that the reapers aren't actually arriving after all. Caveat emptor Indeed.

No Kaidan and Ashley?

This will be the first 'real' Mass Effect dlc I am not buying. (Weapons and armmor backs don't count)

Yeah. You know how at the end of ME2 Shep is suddenly going on about "The Reapers are coming and Harbinger is leading them!" despite nothing in the Collector base actually suggesting that to him.

Best guess, Arrival is where Shep knows that from.

The one thing that really bugs me about that IGN article is that the first page is supposed to be no spoilers...but they tell you on that page that ash/kaid won't be in it, how is that not a spoiler (ironic to point that out in the no spoilers forum...)? Regardless of how you feel about those two, whether they're your LI or not, it seems to close off a potential story avenue, I now know what will not happen (not saying more than that due to the aforementioned section irony).

I'm assuming the IGN reviewer specifically asked JH about that, since he didn't see the whole DLC, and I guess BioWare is in a tough spot with the VS. Lets assume for a moment that they're trying to be cool and surprise us, then they pretty much have to say "Nope, no VS here" to keep the surprise. Being coy just would've confirmed it...or amped the rage to 11 by if the VS was indeed not in the DLC. I personally think it's expectation management at this point and the VS isn't in there (i also hope I'm wrong, but hope is not a strategy).

That's my bet or maybey when the relay is active the middle part is very vulnerable and a projectile aimed just right can render it useless.

Galactic civilization has been trying to mess with the relays for centuries. I doubt there are any weak such points on it.

It would have ben useless till the area was found again and likely reactivated by Soverign.

The point still stands that the Reapers would still be able to use it.

The preview guy said he asked Bioware if Arrival had any Decisions to carry over into 3 and recieved an annoyed response of how that wasn't in the PR plan to talk about such details. So they are still hiding something.

That said, they might just be assuming VS won't be in because the story isn't about them, like Shadow Broker was mostly about Liara. If VS does appear, it will be a late story surprise unlike Shadow Broker which began and ended with Liara.

Frankly they still could show up, considering how the story seems to be going. But I could also see if they want to hold them back until ME3 as well. If their story in ME3 is dependent on not seing Shepard since Horizon, then nothing can be done, and we'll just have to wait.

They are pretty adamant that they do care, we just have to wait. Or at least every time it's brought up lately anyway.

havnt read or seen anything. like to keep it that way :D also i dont understand the complaints about that its playable before the SM. does it matter ? if you want to play it after the SM just play it after the suicide mission ?! just becouse the option is there doesnt mean your forced to use it.

People basically wanted this to become the new ending, with the Reapers flying in and starting ME3 immediately.

Suffice to say that isn't quite whats happening here.

Any one who believed that is a fool. Did they expect an optional DLC to have that big of an impact.

Making it a solo mission was the best possible choice. I don't want companions who just sit there like zombies.

Guys, stop whining, seriously. Boohoo, no Virmire Survivor. Some of you say you won't buy the DLC because the VS isn't in it. Get over yourselves. This DLC will probably be fantastic (first mission sounds awesome). BioWare haven't abandoned Kaidan and Ashley, they're saving them for ME3.

Maybe too many spoilers in that article, but oh well. I'm excited.
