I'd like to speed up load times and would like to get rid of the splash screens. Are there .bik files I can rename?

Check your Configuration Utility under Video, Disable Intro Movies.

You can't speed up load times by shortening the load screen animations. The animations run for as long as it takes to load the area, not the other way around.
