Never getting Varric's last armor upgrade is kind of bothering me, and I'd like to experience the quest at least once.

Note that you can find the upgrade also in the Act2 sidequest Fool's Gold which you can get in place of Finding Nathaniel. Also you can activate the quest via the runscript zz_dae_debug consolecommand, though it's a bit a half assed fix.

That said, I'm also curious to see if it's possible to fix a DA:O save file for this. If only because I replayed Awakening, had Nathaniel in my party and was annoyed to discover I still had the Finding Nathaniel bug.

Oh, I didn't know it was also findable in Fool's Gold, haha. Unfortunately I'm on the 360, so no console shenanigans for me.

Unfortunately there's nothing for the PS3, due I believe, to the PS3 having encrypted saves for some reason.  Sorry.

Is there any way to get the face to stop reverting back to the original one at the Blk Emporium after a face morph swap?

I was wondering if anyone had a table of effects and values for working with item modding?

Some problems I'm encountering on the 360 modding front.
I'm using Horizon/First Blight by the way.

Let's say I want to modify some robes for my mage. I was testing this out today mind you.

The stats are as follows:

2 Rune Slots
90 Armor
+ 2 Magic
+ 24 Mana/Stamina
(item worthless)
(restriction mage)
(base item light armor)

I for example want to replace "item worthless" with "improves with level up". I do it and it works! However the problem lies in the stats from the unmodified piece of armor that I had equipped before getting "absorbed" by Hawke and stacking with the new modified armor. So after the "improves with level up" function gets added to the armor it's armor rating gets knocked down to 49 (which I have no qualms about) but Hawke's overall armor rating is 139 so the 90 from the unmodified armor stays with Hawke as if it were never unequipped. Don't know if anyone understands what I'm trying to say.

Anyhow this is very game breaking and has been keeping me from modifying my save. Especially if I want to modify something very powerful from the end game.

Any work-arounds for this or am I the only one experiencing this problem?

I tried changing the friendship and rivalry values which seemed to work, but I won't get the special abilities that come along with a high value. What have I done wrong?

Edit: I guess changing the values to 100 wasn't a good idea. Setting them to 95 and then getting the last 5 points the normal way solved the problem :wizard:

I think I found a way to fix the romance flags. Some of you may know that there is a glitch where the game doesn't recognize who you romanced in DAO. For example, Leliana will act as if she was not in a romance with the Warden even if you did. It is believed that the cause of this is importing a save from a DLC (awakening, witch hunt). Those saves had removed the approval ratings of characters in DAO, which are necessary in DA2 to determine romances.

For romances to be recognized you had to have the flag set to true and the approval above 91.

(credit to Monochrome Wench for this the info)

To fix the romances, use gff4editor to set the approval rating for the character you romanced to 100.

gff4editor (load the Dragon Age 2 save)
-> 16024
    ->17603
        -> 1082, (Alistair Approval)
            -> 17601 1082
            -> 17602 100 (this is the approval value, enter 100)
        -> 1133, (Leliana Approval)
            -> 17601 1133
            -> 17602 100 (this is the approval value, enter 100)
        -> 1195, (Morrigan Approval)
            -> 17601 1195
            -> 17602 100 (this is the approval value, enter 100)
        -> 1350, (Zevran Approval)
            -> 17601 1350
            -> 17602 100 (this is the approval value, enter 100)

If you don't have the above values, click on 17603 and in the edit window select "Add". That will create a new entry with the value 0, 0. Now put the correct values in 17601 and 17602 fields.

Save the changes

This is probably not important to some, since it only changes small lines of dialogue, but there you go.

*edit* You guys got the Gibbed import saves to work right? Just checking.

I know this is an old post, but after trying this, whenever I try to replace my original save with an edited one in Horizon, I get an error "Value was either too large or too small for a UInt32." What does that mean?

Edit: Not sure what I did, but it's working now :lol:

Sorry if this has already been asked, but can I use this this tool at all to get my 360 save on my PC, and then use it on the PC version of Dragon Age 2?

I've moved from a 360 gamer to a PC gamer now, and really don't want to lose two games worth of progress when it comes to DA3

Thanks!

Sorry, I know there's a tool to convert ME2 saves between XBOX/PC (either way), I don't know of one for DA2.

Yea, I used the tool for ME2 and it worked perfectly so I'm all set for ME3 on PC now!

I just wish I could figure out how to do the same for DA2 :(

One of the tools here, the main editor for DA2 works on both PC and XBOX I believe so maybe you could work something out using that? Sorry, can't try it myself as don't have it on PC.

Hi guys I have the game on the xbox and was thinking of buying it again on the pc when I get mass effect 1 and 2 so I could do mods but I noted on page one you can mod the xbox version as I said while I have all the games on the xbox I am getting mass effect on the pc as there is stuff you cannot mod on the xbox ie outfits and other stuff is this the same on dragon age and dragon 2 or can I do that on the xbox and save my cash

OK, here goes:
ME1 - No modding as far as I'm aware.
ME2 - Limited modding (no outfits) - see here.
DA:O - Limited - I've not done much of this myself I'm afraid.
DA2 - A fare amount including models and outfits.

One thing I just noticed is EA Origin offering 50% off DA2 on 6th December and ME2 for GBP5 on the 7th.  Not sure these are the best available deals but they look decent.

Still for xbox?
If so; there's a DA:O editor included in the file package in the OP (daosavegame) plus the Firstblight save editor works to some extent on DA:O saves BUT don't change the item power values in this as they go a bit wierd.
Changing decsion flags is one thing I never tried as (a) I was happy with my choices and (B) they make bugger all difference in DA2.
By the way, Modio is a utility foir extracting and inject the file saves from an xbox.  Some people have issues with it so use Horizon or one of the other options out there.

If you're talking about PC saves there's no need to use Modio or Horizon at all.
