I don't have the id I'm afraid, but there's probably a more complete id list available on the PC forum by now.

I am not ashamed to admit I am completely new to using any kind of mods for DA2 etc. I have been trying to do a few things, unsuccefully and am very frustraited. If anyone is good at this stuff and can contact me to maybe help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to swap characters in one of my saved games and...just...can't... get it to work. Thank you!:(

I'll give it a go.

I've not bothered with character swapping myself, but have modded various other stuff.

Let me know what you're trying to do and I'll see if I can help if nobody else jumps in.

Ehem ... is there an "easier" guide for dummies somewhere? I don't know anything about modding; I barely know anything about my xbox other than how to turn it on and hit play, rofl *blush*

I downloaded the GFFEditor thingie and also the folder with Horizon, etc. in it. The other file ("ID list") isn't working on FileFactory.

I do have a USB but when I put it in my xbox the xbox didn't see it :( So I guess I'm going to buy an Xbox USB. I can get an 8GB one on amazon for 16 bucks + shipping.

Then from there, I'm not really sure what to do.

If you search the DA Wiki for Developer's Console, it has all of the creature codes. I think that's what you want. The directions are for changing yourself directly vial the console, but the codes shode be the same.

Dark, are you talking to me? I'm not sure what you're talking about if you are *blush*

Guys, regarding the directions on the first post of this thread, it says to "drag your save" out; does that mean you have to save your game to your usb? How do you do that? I got my xbox to see my usb, so I'm ready to try this tonight :)

Okay ... so far I followed the steps in "Getting Started" as well as "FirstBlight."

With FlirstBlight, I didn't really know what to do, so I just upped everyone's stats to 50 and moved all the friendship bars to about 90%, just as a test.

I clicked "Save" then dragged the file onto Horizon, as instructed. When I hit "Save, Rehash, and Resign," and it worked (or said it worked).

The part that stumps me is the third part, "GFFEditor." I did download that, but I have no idea what the first instruction even means. There doesn't appear to be any actual program in the folder I downloaded. What am I supposed to do next?

Just to clue you in, my ultimate goal is to switch the armor of the companions. I would really love to change character hairstyles and such, too. I don't even know if this is possible.

Help me out, guys! I'm new, but I'm trying :)

EDIT: Okay ... figured out that " wxPIRS" is actually a PROGRAM.  So I found that and downloaded it.

Did step one, "Open your save in wxPIRS and extract 'Savegame.das and 'Savegame.das.x'

But now for some reason I can't get GFF editor to open.  I click on it, and nothing happens.  I went to gff4editor-1.0 --> editor --> *click* ... and nothing.

EDIT: By the way, is there a way to tell who characters 1 through 7 are??
Help?

Moto, in your GFFeditor folder you should have a program called ' editor.exe' . That's the one to use. I know how to change Hawke's armor with this, but not your companions. On PC you just download the mod you want and drop in your over ride folder. I saw a list telling which companion is which number, I'll try and find it again! Good luck!

Thanks!  Yeah I figured out how to open the editor.  It's ... an insane mess.  I think, I mean, I THINK I figured out where and how to change Hawke's armor THAT HE'S CURRENTLY WEARING.  I'm not quite sure how to just shove something in inventory yet.  But anyway, yes, I think I figured that out.

Let me try to explain what I've done so far, and then I'll include some screen caps ^^

I did everything in the guide in "Getting Started" and "FirstBlight."  (FYI I know that FirstBlight at least worked because my characters all have 50 strength, 50 dex, etc. and all companions are at 90% friendship, which was just how I'd fixed it.  So Yay, that worked.)

When I get to the GFF Editor part of the guide, things get tricky:

I downloaded and opened wxPIRS and extracted as suggested savegame.das and savegame.das.x.  Now, the guide doesn't specify, but I assume I should rename these, so I did.  I renamed them savegame.das 2 and savegame.das x 2.  I did this because it says later that you're supposed to replace the originals with these files, so...

Anyway, next I open GFF Editor (the guide says "save until you're done"; wow, so helpful lol :P).  I assume it means open the savegame.das file that I have extracted onto the desktop (what I retitled savegame.das 2).  So I do, and this is what it looks like:

Image IPB

So I decide, just to experiment, to try and see if I can give Fenris Anders' robes and give Isabela Bethany's robe.  Just to see if it will work and if I'm doing this right.

So here's where I go: Index > SAVEGAME_PARTYLIST > SAVEGAME_POOLPARTYMEMBERS > gen00fl_bethany,... > SAVEGAME_EQUIPMENT_ITEMS > gen_im_fla_bethany_03,... > click on "gen_im_fla_bethany_03" and copy.

Here's a screen cap:

Image IPB

I then went to Isabela, found the same place, and replaced "gen_im_fla_isabela_01" with "gen_im_fla_bethany_03."  Then did the same with Fenris and Anders.

I then opened "Dragon Age Checksum Fix" as per the guide on the first page of this thread and opened "savegame.das" and "savegame.das.x."  I assume it meant the ones I extracted onto the desktop (and that I retitled) and so I did.  Nothing really happened.

I opened Horizon, went to Contents tab, and Saves.

Right clicked on savegame.das and replaced with savegame.das 2, as the guide suggests, and did the same with the other savegame thingie.

Then hit "Save, Rehash, Resign."  I don't know what is meant by "Drag back into device explorer in Horizon" means because I couldn't drag it back in.  but anyway, it said the Save, Rehash, etc. was a success.

Like I said, the stuff I fiddled with in FirstBlight (upped statistics and friendships) worked but the outfit changes did not.  I don't know if I didn't save them properly or if I wasn't actually switching outfits and was switching something else.  I'd love a guide of some sort for what all the odd little terms (like "
gen_im_fla_bethany_03") stand for and how one can find, say, Bethany's outfit and put it on Isabela.

I'd also, of course, like to put, say, Athenril's outfit on Isabela.

Or download that cool black coat everyone has for Fenris and put that on Fenris.

Those really are my ultimate goals.  I hope you, lady <3, or someone can help me out, and I hope I explained myself properly here!

Thanks!!  I did manage to find that the other day.  Unfortunately, copying the ID for, say, Bethany's robe (1020), and pasting it over Isabela's outfit (1050) didn't work either.

I think I'm doing something wrong.  It must have something to do with that Dragon Age Checksum thing.  The instructions on how to use that and what to do with it are not very explicit in the guide.

Secondly, once I do the "Rehash" thing in Horizon and close out the program, I get an error message.  That could also be affecting the results =\\

EDIT: Again, all I really want is to be able to change companion armor; if anyone can help me with this I'd be sooo thankful!

Moto,' the guide says "save until you're done"'. This could mean that after you make a every change, you need to click on the 'save' button on the bottom left of your GFF editor screen. After you make all your changes, saving after each one, the use the 'save as' under 'file'.( I hope this makes sense, I have a migraine) As for your companions, is this what your looking for?

1: Carver/Bethany
2: Aveline
3: Varric
4: Merrill
5: Fenris
6: Anders
7: Isabella
8: Sebastian

I'll re-read things later when my eyeballs don't feel so bad:)

Thanks!!!  I was definitely not hitting "save" each time I made a change.

Not that I know WHAT I'm doing in GFF Editor yet.

Any idea what exactly I need to edit in order to change a companion's armor?  That's all I'm trying to do.

Feel better first :wizard:

EDIT: URGH.  I'm getting an error now when I try to replace the savegame.das in Horizon.  It says "Value was either too large or too small for a Ulnt32."

I found the names of some other programs for modding 360:  Modio  -  360revolution  -  CONcept
I don't have links for them tho!

I went to the Dragon Age forum on the xbox site; it's practically dead D: I've never used the Xbox forums before though, so maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...

Lady, nice link!!! That would help with body swapping. I'm not too interested in body swapping; I'm more interested in changing the outfits/armor on the companions.

I am pretty sure for that I would need armor IDs. But even if I had those IDs, I'm not sure where exactly in GFFEditor I would go to change them.

But I guess it would just be a matter of messing around and just trying things, since most of the people who might know about this don't seem to visit this forum any longer D: The problem is that it seems that once you mod a save it can become corrupted ... and I only have so many saves and games I can risk this with =\\

Moto, I'm still poking around, but I did find this site, you might be able to find help there. I wish I could help more, but I don't own an XBOX, so I have no experience trying to mod on one! If I see anything else I think might be useful to you, I'll let you know.

No, I think those uti things are for PC only :(

I figured out how to switch bodies. That's what the character ID's stand for. (i.e. Isabela = 1050). So I was able to put Bethany's body on Isabela. I was also able to put Cassandra's body on Aveline! That looked pretty nice. But ... I'm limited. And nothing, I repeat, nothing works on Fenris. He just ends up with an invisible body.

So I am trying to figure out how to switch armor. I'm playing with something right now, and we'll see if it works. Unfortunately, it seems like my save gets corrupted after each try, so I have to always start with a new save....

I posted on the xbox forum, thanks for the link!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Not sure if it worked because the save corrupted again *sigh*  I wonder if that's Horzion's fault.  I did download modio, but can't figure out how to use it since no one here (or anywhere) has posted a guide yet.

Thanks for the tut links!

I think I need to take a break from this lol I'm now completely missing steps, like resigning using the dragon age hexum thing. My brain is just fried.

Think I'll take a break from trying to figure this out =\\

I hope BW sees how pissed off I am that I have to jump through hoops like this JUST TO GET FENRIS IN A DIFFERENT OUTFIT. lol

Why would removing choice EVER be a GOOD idea for an RPG game?

I'm back :P And I have had SOME success.

So I can swap SOME characters' bodies. This is under SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE > SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_TYPE. Then just change the number there for the body I want. For example, Isabela's # is 1050; I just changed it to 1020, and now she's wearing Bethany's starting outfit - well, in reality, she is simply wearing the lower half of Bethany's body.

I get the ID numbers from here: http://dragonage.wik...(Dragon_Age_II) ... it's under "List of Appearance #'s."

That method has several problems.

1. Aveline's body will not take. I tried to swap hers for Cassandra's body, and it switched back as soon as I move from one location to another (i.e. Hanged Man to Lowtown).

2. The list from the link is incomplete. And the ID List.rar from the first page, which would include Models.txt, no longer works.

3. I am limited, especially with Fenris. There are very few male elf bodies in the game. So far I can only swap his body for a male Dalish warrior or archer's. I could probably swap him for Orsino, too.

* * *

What I would LIKE to do is switch the character's ARMOR, not his body.

It was my understanding that in order to do this, I would first have to change the character's body model to the "naked" version (found from the link above). So for Fenris, the naked elf would be 12020.

Next I would go to SAVEGAME_EQUIPMENT_ITEMS > the last number in the last > 3TEMPLATERESREF > then change the words in the box on the bottom left to whatever armor I want him to have. Now, since armor rarely comes in sets, if I would paste in any chest piece then his arms and legs would be bare. So just to test it, I used "gen_im_arm_cht_elf_comb," which is an all-in-one (shoes included) elf commoner outfit.

This worked. BUT, as soon as I changed locations, Fenris (and whomever else I did this for) unequipped this "armor" and was now in his "naked" state.

So first I would ask if ANYONE has the ID List somewhere.

And second, I would as if anyone knows how to change a companion's armor - and keep it that way.
