Let me start with this: I thought virtually everything about DA:2 was brilliant.

But... a lot of things didn't make sense.  Like why Fenris won't make the first move.  Where on earth did mageHawke learn blood magic?  How does Sebastian "forbidden fruit" Vael intend to rule Starkhaven without producing any heirs? How did the elves suddenly start looking like the Na'vi from Avatar?  How did an Amell cousin end up in the Ferelden Circle if they're all from Kirkwall? What are the Dranei doing in Thedas? (oh wait, those are the new Qunari)

But then there were things that REALLY didn't make any sense.

Like Huon, the city elf apostate who flees the Circle and murders his wife in a fit of random bloodmagery:

WHY ON EARTH DOES HE HAVE A DWARVEN CASTELESS TATTOO ON HIS BIG ELF FACE?

Can anyone explain that part?  Anyone notice any other random unexplainables in the game?

There actaully is a line of dialogue, I believe from Anders, where he makes mention of new mages being sent to Kirkwall because the Circle needed "new Talent"

Hardly strange to think the opposite could also be true.

1) Why does Fenris have to make the first move, exactly?
2) It's called roleplaying, decide for yourself how he learned.
3) Sebastian can get married, then he can have children.
4) Retcon, I like it personally.
5) Leandra went to Ferelden, no? It's not unthinkable that another Amell did too.
6) They've been in Thedas for a time now, read your codex.(and the DA wiki)
7) Uuh, he liked it? Seriously, WTH does it even matter to you?

Heyy I didn't notice that when I played through and it makes a lot of sense.  Thank you!

Okay...

1) girls like it (or, okay, I would like it, and I'm a girl)
2) I just think the writers ought to have explained where that came from.
3) Sebastian intends to stay celibate, which means no marriage or children
4) I'm glad you do, but that doesn't explain the complete makeover
5) That's true, I'd be curious to know how
6) Yep, but again that doesn't explain the complete makeover
7) It wouldn't even make sense for a city elf in the Free Marches to know what a tattoo from the casteless in Orzammar are, much less be familiar enough with their tattoo to identify with it.  I personally think it doesn't make any sense, but if the writers meant something by it I'd like to know what.

Retcon DO explain the total makeover of the Qunari. The art team decided, rightly so, that the non human races looked way too much like humans. Elves were just humans with kinda pointy ears and Qunari were just tall humans. So they redesigned them, in most fantasy games Elves are described as thin, they just took it a little farther and over did the ears to make them look more distinct from humans. The bases for the new Qunari was the Ogers, since it was stated in Origins that Ogres are born from Qunari brood mothers. So they made them more physically imposing and added the horns.

The tattoo could be logiced out like this. There are a fair number of caste less dwarves who flee to the surface to be free, they still have the tattoos, somebody sees it, thinks it looks good and copies it. Same basic thing that leads to all the people in the real world that get random "oriental" designs tattooed on themselves.

I wondered about the Qunari and elves too. The elves look so damn strange, it took me awhile to pin down what was changed.

From what i understood, Quanari was always ment to have horns... but in origins that had problem with them causes of the helmets... in DA2 they avoided the problem so they could recoon it the way they it was meant
