You should read something sometime, it might make you realize that what Laidlaw said is complete and utter nonsense.

You should interact with people sometime.  You might realize he is right.

In a word where there are no books......

One man takes a stand....

Starring John Cena as Mike Laidlaw...

I guess you have to have some John Cena exposure to get that.

How in the world could Laidlaw even utter these words. I mean, COME ON! How can ANYONE take him seriously after he stated that "Text is always a pretty horrible medium for conveying sarcasm or sincerity". I swear, fanboys would start defending this guy if he starts saying the Earth is flat.

Really? So if I take any random line of dialogue out of context, you would be able to tell me if said line is sarcastic or sincere? That's impressive. You must be some kind of genius. Has MENSA contacted you yet?

The sarcasm seeped thorough the post it was so wet.

No no. That was sincerity. Obviously you are not cut from the same cloth as the mighty RohanD.

If that was sincerity I'm the queen of England.

Oh wait, I am.

I didn't know it was now possible to clone England.  NEAT!

Not sure mad magazine would change his mind.

Anyhow, I'd be interested on what Gaider(story director? Author?) would say about that. For what its worth the guy is right about the text not conveying sarcasam/anger/diplomacy well in da2. Its because those wheel options are worded poorly.

:wizard:

The text in the wheel options are hints.  If you want to see the actual text, you have to click the wheel option for it.  It means you have to think about your options more because you are not only guessiing about the NPC will say, but, also what your character will say.  I like it this way.

If you don't like it that's fine.  But lets not pretend it is inferior to have to think more.

It is inferior when a non-commital response turns into "We'll stay together until we die!" and yes, this is in the game. Comes up when Anders asks to move in.

That is your opinion masquerading as fact again, i.e. bull****!  The hints on the dialog wheel are not meant to tell you exactly what you are going to say.  They are just hints.  The final form of the response is shaped by previous dialog choices.  Yes, your choices do matter in this game, you'll be surprised to know.

You hear that Thadeus??  Thadeus!!  You hear me??  Choices!!  DA2 Has them!!

Lol, most of the comments on the Gamespot site that don't like the game have positive hits, and the comments that do like the game have negative hits.

Just saying, generally most people on the internet dislike DA2, and for good reason.

Read the whole interview and found it an interesting read. The major issue that didn't seem to be raised was the re-use of area/maps.

Don't think its in any way correct to say most people on the internet hate DA2. There's a group of passionate haters, then there's the large silent majority who enjoyed it to varying degrees and then there's a group of passionate pro DA2 people.

Your probably right, how I see it is like this

[_______________________________________________]
^                                     ^         ^                                           ^
1                                    2          3                                          4

1)Rabid Fanboy like Drago45
2) Vast majority of players
3)Me
4)Super Haters like Crysis4747

EDIT: that 4 should be right on the last line but for the life of me I cant get it to go were it should.

No, this is fact. It literally happens in the game.

I do wonder sometimes if Mike Laidlow has even heard of books.I'm not even sure he has heard of such titles as "Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne" and its sequel "Dragon Age: The Calling".Both excellent prequels to Origins.

Now I'm just picturing him looking at a book upside-down and completely confused.

What about the people in the middle?

I don't hate the game. I had fun for the most part. I just feel that catering to a demographic who does not play these games to begin with was a mistake.

It's not a bad game. It's not brilliant either. It's middle of the road that had a lot of potential. Unfortunately as with most companies it's about appealing to a broader audience to increase profits. So far we don't know if that actually worked.

True.

I don't consider it an outright flop and I have no doubt there will be a DA:3

EA kept Sims Online on for 4 years...so there will be a third game.

I believe the game will likely break even and the third game will keep some of the good elements in DA:2 but return some of the elements from Origins they got rid of.

One can hope. From what Laidlaw has said though he's happy with the direction the series had taken. I'm sure that's just public relations speak but if that's his sincere feeling on the matter he's made the decision much easier for me.XD

Hopefully, they'll get rid of Laidlaw.Seriously, why would they bring in a guy who obviously dislikes RPGs?

Oh the way he condescends to the fans is truly irritating but I do believe they will eventually acknowledge the mistakes they made.  They will have to do this if they want people to buy the next game.  I know I have no intention of preordering the next one.

They better come out with some dlc soon too for this game. The replayability is seriously lacking.

Yes, the way he speaks about the players is quite mean. I was indifferent to him until I read the interview and now I feel like he takes us for fools. He insists we don't know what we like.

I doubt i'll buy any form of DLC for this game. Why? Because I don't want to support Mike Laidlaw's vision of the Dragon Age franchise.

I'll only buy it depending on what I read about. There are so many missing gaps in the game. :?

Unfortunately the one strength of the game left me wanting more of it. I need more story.

The game is definitely not worth the $60 I paid for it and I do hope the DLC is reasonably priced.

I feel the same way which is why I won't be giving them more money. I paid $60 already. If there is DLC it better be free(yeah right).
