I sure hope that there is not a virmire survivor. The whole point was to make the player make a difficult choice in sacrificing one of your party members and if they for some odd reason brought that person back it no longer makes of the most important decisions in mass effect 1 important.

It would still be important... but for a very different reason. I'd much rather leave someone to die than leave them to the fate of something much worse than death. It lays even more burden on the shoulders of Shepard. Especially if you came to a point in ME3 where you had to make a decision about that person's final fate.
