Hm, romanced Merrill Trice on PS3, only ever had Anders and Isabela confront me. Is varric the only one else that's supposed to do so then?

On two play throughs, romancing Merill and Isabella I have never gotten this quest.

I've gotten this conversation regarding Fenris! I can't for the life of me remember what order I did anything in, but I know it triggered right after I finished one of Varric's companion quests.

I... can't seem to find it in my journal, but I swear I had it. Weird.

I'm on 360, no conversation about a love interest for me at all. In fact, I dont think I got one for Anders when I romanced him on my first play through. I've been romancing Fenris since (on my 3rd PT) and no conversation about love interests that I can recall at all.

Haven't gotten this quest for either Isabela or Fenris. In the Isabela case I'm pretty sure the romance scene with her happened very early in my playthrough of the second act, so probably before I'd completed any major quests...if that helps at all.

Soooo... Say it is a bug, and it gets fixed in an upcoming patch. Can people who have their Hawke in Act III still trigger the quest? Or is it an Act II-exclusive one?

Me too.  I didn't realize Varric talked about all the LIs; I though it was Varric making himself sound good in his story to Cassandra:

"I told Hawke not to get mixed up with that crazy mage, but did she listen to me?  Noooo."

Ditto,I have never heard of this quest D: Its sucks that we are missing out on conversations.I hope Bioware fixes it soon.

When I triggered it using the console, it started with Fenris (as appropriate) then switched to Isabela mid-conversation.

It doesn't trigger on its own for me with Fenris as the love interest.

Not I.  Anders = yes, Isabella/Fenris (same playthrough) = no.

I've romanced Fen successfully (Friend-mance) and have not had any conversation with Varric trigger about him. And I went in to talk to him often, along with making sure I covered everyone's quests.

Edit: In fact, until seeing this thread, I didn't even know the conversation existed.

My brother's been playing my copy on his 360. When he actually managed to romance Merrill (which apparently has some issues on the 360 version), he never got any discussion. I've gotten the talk on all my toons that got that far, as has my sister, but we both had Anders romance.

I've only romanced Fenris (twice, both paths) but never got a talk from Varric.  After trying the console command, he started out by mentioning Fenris then moved on to the subject of Isabela (who I'd never flirted with).

I romanced Fenris in my first game and Anders in my second. He mentioned Anders, but not Fenris. I thought maybe he was just trying to tell me something.

If it helps with the bug hunting I did get a concerned conversation from Varric playing as female Hawke romancing Anders but nada when romancing Fenris. Playing the PC version.

I got the conversation with Anders, but not with Fenris.  So I think it is a flag bug.

While you're at it, can you fix the Awakenings import bugs?  I keep getting annoyed that  Nathaniel thinks the Architect is still alive despite the fact I made a couch out of his hide.  Yeah, I redecorated Amaranthine after that battle.

When I romanced Fenris, Anders gave me a talk-to. But not Varric.

This go round I romanced Anders, and Varric's quest did come up.

Righty, another test:

Finished Blackpowder courtesy and Offered and Lost
Finished Varrick's quests, including 'a story being told'
Did 'A bitter Pill'

No talk from Varrick .

Previous play-throughs, no qunari quests and no varrick quests save the signet ring gift were done prior to bitter pill, and the talk still didn't occur upon finishing up required stuff.

Guess the quest order doesn't really matter.

Three playthroughs: Anders twice (friendmance), got the Friendly Concern; Fenris once (friendmance), no Friendly Concern.
