Love that they referenced the Firkaag fight. That one was one of the most epic in the series.

Not to mention mentioning the loot we got from defeating him Image IPB

Remind me again: What did we get for killing the high dragon in DA2? Just the rights to the mine itself, which we can't sell or anything AFAIR...?

Ah, yes... How silly of me to forget it Image IPB .

*sigh*. At least DAO gave you some loot and a cool armor for defeating the high dragon there...

You got the chest piece to the Champion Armor.

It's somewhat telling that the biggest gripe he has about Origins, and the one thing Dragon Age II has in spades, is combat filler.

It's why I dread the Deep Roads on every playthrough of Origins, and why I tend to quit shortly after any run through that place.

Really? Must have slipped my notice then - I know that I wore that specific part of the armor later in the game, but I don't remember picking it up from the dragon... Does it by chance get added to the inventory automatically upon defeating the dragon?

Damn that's lame...a dirty note and a fourth wall straddling achievement to make the kiddies feel warm and fuzzy at night. I want a big bloody sword dammit!

The dragon your party just hunted was a nerd amongst dragonkind...it collected ...mine deeds. Great, what a tool of a dragon.

...doh! Yadda yadda, Champion armor. Yippe!

I think the guy puts it better: "And the sword you got after the fight didn’t become obsolete the moment you leveled up."

Ah, BG2... The game where you could get some awesome equipment fairly early on (which, as he says, would be good for use until the end of the game) - provided that you were prepared for a tough fight.

You don't get the deeds from the dragon though, but from your "partner". Pity you don't get to sell them or anything though.

A well written review summing up all the major flaws of DA2 while not comparing it to DAO.

I really do hope that BioWare has learned a good lesson and does not destroy a fantastic game series.

Eh, it could be worse. Imagine slaying the dragon, and going to find its hoard, only to discover that all it ever collected in its entire life were... trading cards.

And not even the kind that come with gum, either.

Eh,  if it's trading card collection contains a Black Lotus, then maybe it'd be worth it Image IPB

When it comes to sex, the pubescent character of this game is even more staggering: There is a lot of dirty talking, but when matters evolve beyond words the game gets incredibly shy. It is a strange contrast to the openness with which this game adresses homosexuality.

Well put.

“EA really wanted to capitalize on the success of Origins, so the game was really being pushed hard to be released now.” Inon Zur, a professional train wreck watcher.

That gave me a good chuckle of the start. The Captain Obvious chuckle followed soon.

I don't know what's gone wrong, but I agree with the Codex. In fact it seems like a lot of us do.
Isn’t that like a sign of the apocalypse or something?

I liked...

the coast, caves, and dungeons can easily compete for the apparently much-coveted worst designed award.

Good review.

That was supposed to be a parody of all of the terrible reviews, right?

Yeah, this review is essentially spot-on.

Pretty sad.

"Dragon Age 2 is a mediocre and deeply flawed action RPG, rushed out to
earn EA a quick buck and betting on Bioware's reputation to pull up the
sales."

QFT.

And also...I loled at the end.
"What did we learn, Laidlaw? I don't know, sir.".

“Having a comparatively short developement cycle means that we either had to work faster and/or on a smaller scale. Faster was already a given, what with time being inexorable and linear and all, but a smaller scale means sacrifices, compromises, and cuts compared to the original, gigantic, epic game.” Stanley Woo, Captain Obvious."

Yet the price remained the same. Expensive, and for less.

Btw, the review in the mentioned site is awesome.
