After playing my rogue through, I feel like mages and warriors are both underpowered...... Obviously nothing is going to come close to my rogue in terms of pure single target DPS, but can they atleast dispatch waves of enemies faster? Just not finding anything else as fun. HELP ME!!!

I love my rogue too because you kick so much ass
Speed + Decoy + PinPoint Strikes + Stealth + Assassinate = I pwwn you!!!Posted Image
Anyways, I played all of them im on my mage playthtough right now
and i have to say:

2h Reaver Berserker warrior = count 5 sec. and everyone will be gone including bosses... so don't blink so you don't miss the epic baddassery happening in your screen lolPosted Image

Force Mage = pure crowd control your actually not as strong as the other two classes melee dmg wise, and probably will die in 1 on 1 fights if clueless about the mage class, and takes really long to kill 1 enemy in 1 on1 even with spells unless you use heavy dmg spells

I've played a DW Rogue and 2H warrior all the way through, and am nearly done with my Mage playthrough (Force/Blood/Primal).

So far, the most dominant in terms of raw damage dealt, survivability and general ease was my 2h Vanguard warrior.  The game is easy mode for him.

I've started a playthrough as a Bow Rogue and am nearing the end of Act 1 and he is pretty dominant too.  The first few battles are tough, but once you get a good bow...it's pretty darn easy.

All this on Hard Mode, btw.

You didn't die with your Rogue because either a Warrior tanked, a Mage controlled the battlefield, or a combination of both. Think about that when you look at the other two classes. Damage isn't the only thing that determines strength.

Slam a staggered group into the ground with Fist of the Maker. That's always fun.

Or CC/Force/Primal Mage anyone?

Gravitic Ring/Pull of the abyss/chain Lightning/entropic cloud/fist/rinse/repeat

And yup, rogues get to play because they've a warrior pulling the threat, a healer keeping the health up and at least one CC character stopping the adds swarming him

My rogue is causing havoc on nightmare, but that's down to Aveline tanking, merrill on lightning (AoE that's party friendly) and entropy duty and Anders on panacea and buff/debuff duty. As folk said DPS isn't the be all and end all. And in DA like WoW spiking DPS too high will drag the mob off the tank and onto you, and on nightmare especially that's a bad move if it's an assassin or devestator variant never mind a boss or ogre.

And tbh force mage's are fun while not too DPS heavy unless you get something staggered, but the sheer power or either slowing a boss to a crawl or dragging all the annoying small mobs to the tank is worth more than any DPS

Well single target DPS is their job, its kinda like saying I was spoiled by my 2H warrior because nothing can match my pure Melee AoE.

It comes down to whatever you like best but I would encourage you to play the Vanguard style Warrior, nothing beats smashing through entire lines of enemies and battering them aside.

My Mage did alright in the damage department. Pull of the Abyss and VWB is pretty dirty on crowds, especially if u have a rouge drop Overpowering Fog. Not to mention Firestorm. Even for single target DPS, with spells like Horror, Winters Grasp, and Crushing Prison, they can do some damage. Especially with the right staff makeup.

If you are looking for pure DPS, you might want to check out this link:

I always dump most of my points into cunning, so my rogues never really do much damage anyway. Varric however, has the highest DPS out of all my characters, thanks to Bianca.

I actualy felt like rogue is underpowered after playing my warrior. Each for it's own I guess. I like the fact that I can take on multiple enemies while they try desperately do damage to me.

You didnt take devious harm?  +1% Crit Dam per point of cunning.  Im almost through act 1 with my 2h rouge assassin/shadow build and im getting dex to 42, maybe 5 in str for the fortitute (so i dont get knocked about all the time) and the rest in cunning.  If need be a may put a couple in health too but if i get hit either i, or my NPC's arent doing something right.

My first playthrough as 2h warrior (2h tree and reaver) owned stuff.  Turned hard into easy mode.  I'm only rolling through on hard though, will try nightmare after i get this roll and my mage game done.

DW Rogue pretty much trumps the other 2 classes by Act 3 with insane DPS, crazy crit chance and damage, immunity from knockback/crit/flanking/ stun (from items/weapons), Rigged Decoy and Carta's Left Hand (25% chance to reduce attack speed, 25% chance to reduce movement speed)

Got 2 DW rogues and a mage myself, also a 2h war.

Overall 2h war is the best...just be careful not to whirlwind your group to death.

Rogue can dispatch a single target really fast, Mage can do damage but shines most for CC/debuff/buff. Heroic aura+haste, that's a lot of damage.

In DAO all my characters were mages. In DA2 rogue is just incredibly fun. I love to teleport around and one-shot casters. The combat animations look neat too.

Do what I did. Roll another rogue!

I actually felt the same way after finishing my 2h Reaver Warrior and starting up a Rogue. After your end game epicness it will take a while to adjust to having limited talents. I got my Rogue up to 14 now... and with some of the Assassin tree filled up, her performace is WAY better. Give it a little time!

It's worth noting that although Rogues can be immune to knockback, immunity to knockdown is something else entirely.  This is painfully apparent on Nightmare.
