I completed Merrill's companion quest but she's still locked into my party. how do I get her to leave my party?

Known issue. A work around right now is to start another companion quest; when you get to a part where they are supposed to be locked in to your party it will override merrill's lock. (note, this can also happen with Sebastian during Repentance)

Thanks, currently I did Anders' quest and headed into The Bone pit to cancel it out.

You can also go to your home as this wipes all companions including any locked ones

Yep, Paul's method is much simpler and one I had to figure out on my own.
